New Jersey high school baseball is producing some of the strongest infield talent in recent years. From seasoned seniors committed to top college programs to underclassmen already making a name for themselves, these players are setting the standard in one of the most competitive baseball regions in the country. This story highlights the top infield performers in New Jersey and those who are making the biggest impact for their high school programs this season.

+ SS Zach Geertsma (Governor Livingston, 2026; Virginia)
The Cavaliers recruit has been nothing but impressive this season for the Highlanders. Currently ranked No. 16 in the state’s 2026 class, Geertsma carries a .475 average with seven doubles, one triple, and seven homers. The leadoff hitter leads the team in RBIs (29), runs (31), hits (28), SB (11), average (.475), slugging (.983), and tied in home runs (7). Geertsma has been a sparkplug for the Highlanders leading them to an 18-0 undefeated record so far.

+UTIL Jason Amalbert (DePaul Catholic, 2026)
Uncommitted, the No. 3 ranked prospect in the state’s 2026 class has been dangerous at the plate all season. Amalbert has 31 hits this season out of the leadoff spot for the Spartans and carries a .484 average. The right-hander has 25 RBIs, two doubles, three triples, and team leading eight home runs. Amalbert leads the team in multiple stats; runs (22), hits (31), RBIs (25), singles (18), HR (8), SB (15), and SLG% (.984). Amalbert is one of the top uncommitted prospects in the 2026 class.

+ MIF Jacob Cagna (Egg Harbor Township, 2025; Canisius)
Cagna has been a bright spot for the eagles, leading in almost every offensive stat possible, The Canisius commit is hitting. 500 with six doubles, three triples, and eight homers. Cagna has driven in 21 runs out of the two hole for the Eagles, swiped 12 bags, and is slugging 1.121, showing off his mix of speed and power. The middle infielder is currently ranked No. 146 in the state’s senior class.

+ MIF Sal Garcia (Delbarton, 2026; Duke)
The future Blue Devil and No. 6 overall prospect in the NJ 2026 class has been a top offensive producer for the Green Wave. Out of the two hole, Garcia has driven in 32 runs and scored 27 times. The infielder carries a .484 average with 12 doubles and three home runs. Garcia has also produced nine walks and six HBP, along with six stolen bases. Garcia has been a large reason for Delbarton's successful season so far.


+ SS Jacob Powell (Doane Academy, 2026)
Powell, a junior, has had one of the most impressive statlines in the state. The shortstop carries a .619 average with 39 hits with ten doubles, two triples, and a homer. The three hitter has driven in 25 runs while scoring 31 times. Powell also has ten walks and 32 stolen bases. Jacob and his brother Christopher have powered Doane Academy to an impressive 14-5 record.

+ MIF Max Casazza (Hoboken, 2025; Kean University)
Casazza, a Kean University commit, has been one of the top bats for Hoboken this season. With a .491 average, Casazza has 27 hits including six doubles, two triples, and two home runs. The two hitter has driven in 31 runs and has also scored 31 times. The senior has ten walks, four HBP, and 14 stolen bases. Cassazza has helped Hoboken get to a 14-7 record, with a 10-0 conference record.

+ SS Sean Sailer (Ramsey, 2026; Villanova)
The Villanova recruit and No. 44 ranked prospect in the NJ 2026 class has impressed out of the three hole for the Rams. Sailer carries a .429 average with 11 doubles, and a homer. Sailer has 24 hits, driven in 25, and scored 19 times. The junior also has 13 walks and 11 stolen bases. Saller has been clutch for the Rams and helped lead them to a 15-4 record.
