Senior right-hander Loren Georger (St. Louis) had a standout week for Appleton West across two appearances on the mound. Across two starts Georger would strike out 23 batters across nine innings on the mound allowing one earned run on seven hits, walking two. For his efforts, Georger has been named this week’s Pitcher of the Week.

Monday against Fond du Lac, Georger struck out eight batters across three innings, walking one batter, while filling up the zone at a 66% rate and consistently got strike one on the first pitch of the at-bat.

Goerger would start again on Friday against Oshkosh North and pitch a complete game shutout. Across a six innings, Georger stuck out 15 of the 23 batters he faced, allowing four hits and a walk, earning the win. At the plate, Georger helped his cause going 2-for-4 with two doubles an RBI and two runs scored.

Georger has been a consistent presence atop the rotation for Appleton West for multiple years now. Across 25.2 innings so far this spring, Georger has struck out 48 batters with a 1.91 ERA and a .196 batting average against. The 6-foot-1 right-hander has arm strength up to 89 mph with feel to spin a sharp swing-and-miss breaking ball in the low to mid 70 mph bucket. Filling up the zone at a near 70% rate across both outings, allowing his stuff to play up more consistently as a result.
