Class 5A State Tournament

    TEAM SCORE TEAM SCORE
Faith Lutheran 5 Bishop Manogue 2
The 8 inning battle featured an incredible pitchers dual between arguably the hottest arms from both the north and south heading in the playoffs. BM's Huntman went 6 strong, allowing 2 earned against a stout Faith lineup to put his team in position for the win. BUT, his counterpart, FL's Watkins, stacked up another massive perfomance, going 8.0 IP CG, striking out 3 while commanding his mix around the zone effectively, allowing only 1 ER. A 2-2 tie into the 8th, with the bases loaded, NV's top ranked '26, Shepard 2B past the 1B to bring in 2 with the 3 run scoring on an error on the same play to put Faith up 5-2 with Watkins shutting the door in the bottom half to send the Crusaders into the winner bracket.

     Standout Perfomers
    Jordan Watkins (FL): 8.0 IP, 1 ER, 8 H, 3 K, W
Rookie Shepard (FL): 3 for 4, Game Tying Hit, Go Ahead Hit, 4 RBI
    Eli Leone (FL): 2 for 4, 2 R
    Wade Huntsman (BM): 6.0 IP, 2 ER, 1K, 74 P
    Jaxson Durst: 4 for 4, 2 R
Blaise Czyz (BM): 2 for 4, 2 RBI
    Basic Academy 3 Reno 0

The Wolves were able to jump out to an early lead and never look back after putting up a run in each of the first 3 innings with the help of RBI's from Troy Southisene, Lyndon Lee and Gabe Giron. That was all Wolves starter, Evans, need as he went CG shutout, striking out 8 while allowing 6 hits and only 1 walk, leading Basic to an Opening Round win in the Class 5A State Tournament.

     Standout Perfomers
    Lincoln Evans (BA): 7.0 IP, 8 K, 0 R, W
Troy Southisene (BA): 1 for 3, 1 RBI
Lyndon Lee (BA): 1 for 2, 1 RBI
    Gabe Giron: 1 for 2, 1 RBI
    Braden Jones (R): 6.0 IP, 4 K, 5 H, 3 ER

    Class 4A State Tournament

      TEAM SCORE TEAM SCORE
      SECTA 4 Sierra Vista 3

The win or go home game saw the Lions jump out an early 2-0 lead in the 3rd, only for the Roadrunners to respond with 3 of their own in the bottom have with the help of a Grantz 2B. Each team added one more in the 5th, but the arms were able to keep the bats at bay with Mayorga and Meleski splitting the duties for SV and Briggs going 5.0 with Barlow coming in to close it out over the final 2 to secure the win and send SECTA to the next round.

       Standout Perfomers
      Asa Briggs (SECTA): 5.0 IP, 3 K, 2 ER, 4 H, 1 for 2, 2 RBI
      Lucas Jaggers (SECTA): 2 for 4, 2B, 3B
      Kentin Grantz (SECTA): 2 for 3, 2B, 2 RBI, 1 R
Michael Credico (SV): 2 for 3
      Kyler Melesk (SV): 2.2 IP, 1 ER, 4 K, 3 H

      Bonanza 13 Rancho 5

An offensive explosion to open the game, Bonanza put up seven runs in the first inning, hitting around the lineup to take a commanding lead in a win or go home game. Even with Rancho making a strong comeback attempt in the third as they put up 4 runs, the Bengals bats were too potent as they put up 5 more runs over the 6th and 7th inning and a big 13-5 win to extend their season.

       Standout Perfomers
      Darren McGee (BB): 2 for 5, 3 RBI, 1 R
      Dillon Owens (BB): 3 for 5, 3 R
      John Willard (BB): 2 for 3, 1 R
      Deegan Polson (BB): 2 for 4, 3 R, 1 RBI
      Ashton Reed (BB): 1 for 3, 2 RBI, 1 R
      Brady Paulson (RR): 3 for 3, 2B, 3B, 1 RBI, 1 R,
      William Patriquin (RR): 2 for 4, 2B, 2 RBI

      Durango 4 Silverado 0

Labeled by one scout as the Game of the Year, this battle went 12 innings with two of the state's top velocities going head to head in TCU Commit, Gio Guariglia, and Oklahoma Signee, Alexander Mercurius. Both offenses remained silent until Durango broke it open in the 12th with a Payne sac fly, followed by a huge Mercurius homerun to put them up 4-0 and go on to win, advancing to the State Championship Game on Saturday.

       Standout Perfomers
      Alexander Mercurius (DT): 6.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 11 K, 3 for 6, 3 RBI, 1 R, HR, 2B
