Colorado 2027 Class Rankings: Spring Update (5/6)

Cooper Vais RHP / SS / Arvada West, CO / 2027

One pitcher to circle for the upcoming Future Games is certainly Arvada West's Cooper Vais. The sophomore now has a fastball that has been seen over 90 mph this spring while he has put up some outstanding numbers overall on the mound at the 5A level in Colorado. Vais has chucked 39 innings with 78 Ks, 13 hits, 12 walks, and just a 0.36 ERA allowed. The Wildcats are 6-0 in Vais' starts this year, and he has helped lead this program to an impressive 17-2-1 record in 2025 (currently hitting .319 with 3 HR as well). What really stands out for Vais is his advanced pitchability while he holds exceptional feel for spin already with his fastball coming in at around 2,600 rpm and his curveball and slider around 2,800 rpm. Vais has some longer levers and athletic actions that give him one of the higher ceilings we have seen within the state in a while, making him Colorado's #1 ranked 2027 prospect at the moment.

Jackson Crawford OF / LHP / Mountain Vista, CO / 2027

We can't highlight the top pitcher in this class without talking about the top sophomore position player in the state right now. Jackson Crawford is a 6'3'' / 185 Ibs left-handed hitting outfielder who has surged over the last year with the bat. The actively developing athlete comes with a 6.8 60 yard dash time, a 91 mph outfield throwing velocity, and a 97 mph top event exit velocity. This has translated onto the field in 2025 where he is now hitting .371 with a HR, a triple, 8 doubles, and a 1.008 OPS across 82 plate appearances (5A). Crawford plays the game with an aggressive but controlled approach where he has been able to produce consistent quality at-bats while displaying pop to all fields.

Michael (Mikey) Kroll RHP / 3B / Regis Jesuit, CO / 2027

Mikey Kroll is off to quite the start in 2025 where it all began with him posting a fastball up to 92 mph at this year's Colorado Preseason All-State event. The 6'4'' right-hander has a high ceiling and has already pitched 24.1 innings with 25 Ks and a 2.30 ERA this spring at the 5A level. We have seen Kroll shut down some stout offenses this season with a fastball around 90 mph and a changeup/slider combination. Kroll comes with a compact delivery and plenty of arm talent that could continue to make noise in 2025.

Brady Bradford SS / 2B / Fossil Ridge, CO / 2027

Bradford is another position player in this class that is worth a close follow. The left-handed hitting middle infielder is batting .403 through 76 plate appearances with 11 doubles, a homerun, two triples, and 7 stolen bases (5A). Bradford also runs a 6.9 60 yard dash time and should continue to develop throughout 2025. The Fossil Ridge sophomore has one of the best true hit tools in this class and could have some very impressive numbers after this spring as an underclassman.
