2025 Prep Baseball Iowa High School Team Previews: Volume 6

Prep Baseball Iowa strives to be the most comprehensive source of player information across the state. Prep Baseball is the number one resource for high school baseball in each state that we cover through various events, boots-on-the-ground scouting staff, daily coverage, and multimedia platforms. Our multimedia platforms and events work together, creating each state's most potent high school baseball promotion source. While other organizations take a national approach, our goal is to become the authoritative voice on the ground level of each state.

As we prepare for the upcoming 2025 high school season, we will be taking a preseason glimpse at programs from around the state.

OELWEIN HUSKIES

Head Coach: Colin Morgan (3 seasons, 25-48)

Class: Class 2A
Conference: NICL East
2024 Record: 11-16

Coach's Comment:
"We lose about half of our innings thrown last season and six starters, so we will have lots of new faces on the diamond. We return some really talented guys and the middle of the diamond has very strong defenders. Throwing strikes is always important, but it is really going to be an emphasis this season for us with so many new arms on the mound." 

SIGOURNEY SAVAGES

Head Coach: Lee Crawford (23 seasons, 300-263)

Class: Class 1A

Coach's Comment:
"Overall we lose two seniors from last season. Reid Molyneux and Jake Moore were captains for two seasons. Reid ended up 2nd Team All State last year and Jake was very solid at 3rd base for us. We will need to replace their leadership along with their contributions on the field. As we move to 2025 we will look for Caden Clarahan (1st team all State), Isaac Bruns, Outfied, Cole McKay (Infield) and Brady Clark (infield)  to be our leaders. With us only loosing two starters we return the bulk of our players and pitching. Other returners are Chase Clarahan P/C, Lincoln Power 3rd/OF/DH, Landon Conrad P/2B, Ike Molyneux OF, Carson O'Rourke OF, Cael O'Rourke OF, and Solon Yates 1B/P. This group of seniors is 58-18 going into their last season and has only lost 3 conference games in that time. After last seasons State Tournament appearance the team has been working very hard for this season trying to improve. We also will look to our underclassmen to continue to push our team. We have a great group of Freshman/Sophomores that are ready to step up." 

CARLISLE WILDCATS

Head Coach: Blake Heitmeier (10 seasons, 212-132)

"We bring back a lot of experience from our 2024 team and want to build off the momentum generated at the end of last season. This is a team that loves the game of baseball and we are going to focus one day at a time in a very competitive conference." 

BISHOP HEELAN CRUSADERS

"Pitching will be the strength of this year's squad. It will be a few new faces but ultimately many of the same players return in key roles for 2025. A talented bunch waited their turn and are poised to make an impact at the varsity level."

"As a coaching staff, we are really excited for the 2025 team.  This is an experienced group who has bought into our program over the past few years since our inception. They have worked very hard in the off-season and are eager to compete. We are confident this will translate to a successful season competing in the CIML." 

BOONE TOREADORS

Head Coach: Charlie Eastlund (12 seasons, 239-138)

"We return a strong senior class who has experience playing varsity baseball and competing in the always tough Raccoon River Conference. Our seniors are complemented by a strong junior group." 

SIOUX CITY NORTH STARS

"Lost a good group of seniors but have a solid core coming back. Have a lot of experienced varsity players coming back. Lose a lot of innings on the mound from last year, so someone will have to step up in their place." 

SERGEANT BLUFF-LUTON WARRIORS

Head Coach: Matt Nelson (9 seasons, 240-107)

"Expectations are high for our 2025 squad as we return ten key upperclassmen, all of which contributed to 100% of the inning pitched in 2024.  The offensive and defensive lineup will not have any turnover for a solid 3A team that won 20+ games in a predominantly 4A conference.  This season, the schedule will be challenging competing in the Missouri River Conference and a tough non-conference schedule.  This team is hungry after dropping games in extra innings in the substate finals the last two seasons." 

IOWA CITY LIBERTY LIGHTNING
