This week, Prep Baseball staff made the drive over to eastern Washington and saw a pair of high-level matchups in Spokane. On Thursday, Central Valley earned a convincing victory over University, and on Friday, Gonzaga Prep took a close one against Ridgeline. Multiple college commits and several talented overclassman showed out well. Below are scouting notes on standout players from each of the two games attended.

Central Valley vs. University (5.1.25)

Central Valley

'26 OF Desean Dunbar (Uncommitted)
The star of the game in which CV notched a ton of hits, Dunbar finished 3-4 with a trio of loud singles and 2 RBI. The righty bat kept his hands tight to frame and was on the barrel throughout, collecting hits up the middle and to the pull side. Athleticism best suited for a corner OF spot, had limited defensive action this time around. The 6'0 junior was seen at the Central Washington Preseason ID this winter and showed extremely well in this look.

'25 RHP Tannon Marsalis (Yakima Valley Commit)
Senior arm went the distance for CV, going 7 innings on 104 pitches to secure a victory for the Bears. FB sat 79-82 MPH with some sinking action. Showed a firmer slider in the mid-70's and a loopier curveball he threw for strikes at 68-70 MPH. Worked around some traffic in the middle innings and cruised late. Stocky frame capable of a starter's workload. Final line: 7 IP, 5 H, 3 R, BB, 8 K.

'25 INF Kamden Lanphere (Central Arizona Commit)
Physical senior bat that showed extremely well at the Central Washington Preseason ID has been one of the most dominant hitters in the GSL this spring. Lanphere showed plus bat speed and loose wrists with an explosive path through the zone, producing hard contact when connecting. Long levers moved well at the plate and at SS defensively. 6'1 prospect ran a 7.03 60 yard dash in the preseason with athleticism translating in this one. Dominant player to circle down the stretch.

'25 INF Tristan Pulliam (Yakima Valley Commit)
Another CV hitter that looked in total control, Pulliam showcased a smooth RH stroke at the plate, shortening up when behind in counts and hunting to do damage when in leverage counts. 6'3 athlete had plenty of arm strength at 3B defensively, showing skill with the glove despite a couple of difficult plays to make down the line. Pulliam has been a productive bat for the Bears all spring.

University

'26 1B Elijah Williams (Uncommitted)
Strong, physical power bat showcased his power with a double deep in the gap the other way. Some bat speed and loft generated naturally from the LH side. Went 1-4 with a run scored. First baseman made a couple of nice digs defensively, moving the larger frame well.

'28 INF Tanner Spradling (Uncommitted)
Intruiging freshman prospect has gotten off to a stellar start to his high school career, among the GSL leaders in several offensive metrics and already hitting in the middle of the Titan lineup. Went 2-4 in this look including a hard-hit double down into the corner. If athleticism can continue to develop, Spradling will be a name to follow as one of the more talented underclass bats in eastern Washington.

'27 C Leyton Hurley (Uncommitted)
Hurley broke out in a big way in the winter and was recently moved up to number eleven in the 2027 Washington Player Rankings, and despite not pitching in this look the skillset still was on display. Really mature game defensively, sacrificing his body to make several blocks and limiting base stealers. Quiet day offensively, but posted exit velocities up to 97.3 MPH in the preseason. Sophomore to circle this summer.

Gonzaga Prep

'26 OF Anthony Karis (Oregon State Commit)
The top ranked bat in the 2026 Washington class, Karis looked the part in a big way, hitting the game-deciding 2-run home run late in the game. Righty bat plays with noticable confidence with top-end bat and hand speed through the zone. Loose wrists with an uphill path and ability to punish balls to all fields. Plenty of athleticism and arm strength for any OF spot, with the power profile likely translating to a corner spot long-term. Talented junior showed well in this in-game look.

'25 RHP/OF Grant Yost (Chandler-Gilbert CC Commit)
Yost has had a big spring on both sides of the ball, and got the W on the mound in this one, turning in 6 innings of 3 run ball. Long, swinging arm action through delivery. FB sat 82-84 MPH and topped out at 86 MPH. SL was most used sceondary pitch at 70-73 MPH, with a CH at 76-77 shown sparingly. Physical prospect hit in the three hole and has swung a hot bat as well despite going hitless in this game.

'25 C Brady Strahl (Uncommitted)
Senior had a productive offensive game, going 2-3 with a run scored. RH swing featured a higher leg lift in sync with the hands seperating in his load. Flatter swing path with an abbreviated finish. Clean game defensively behind the plate, handling the staff and limiting the run game.

'25 OF Jaden Sarto (Wenatchee Valley Commit)
Outfielder showed some range in CF defensively for the Bullpups. Taller, long-levered athlete is a long strider down the line and in the field. Was one of two players with a multi-hit game, going 2-2 from the bottom part of the lineup. Productive overall performance.

Ridgeline

'26 RHP/INF Ben Wartinger (Uncommitted)
Lean, athletic righty showed well both on the mound and at the plate. Fluid delivery with some late intent down the hill. 3/4 slot release with a FB that sat 82-85 MPH, topping out at 86 MPH. SL flashed plus at times at 75-77 MPH. Worked through some control issues and posted 6 IP with just 2 ER. Caught multiple barrels at the plate as well, finishing 1-4 with 2 runs scored. Some gap power present in the bat. Strong all-around showing.

'26 INF Caden Andreas (Uncommitted)
Andreas has swung it great this spring, hitting over .400 at the top of the Falcon order. The junior looked the part in this one, going 2-4 with an RBI and showcasing a consistent, balanced RH swing. Medium framed athlete played with an aggressive style throughout. Made several stellar defensive plays at SS, showcasing soft hands and range, including a diving stop up the middle. Standout performer.

'26 OF Charlie Lynn (Uncommitted)
Twitchy athlete looked to have made some progression in his overall game in this one. Covers plenty of ground in the OF with shorter, quick steps. Smooth LH swing showed adjustability at the plate, going 1-4 with a single the other way. Could have easily had another knock or two with better batted ball luck.
