Aiden Lagunas, 2027 INF/P, Cesar Chavez HS, Uncommitted

Aiden shows good discipline in the box, working the count and demonstrating quick hands that help him generate solid contact. Although he lined out to left field, his swing was clean and well executed. Aiden’s ability to stay balanced and make consistent contact at a young age speaks to his potential as he continues to develop his skills. With more experience, he can become a more dynamic presence in the batter’s box.

Elias Munoz, 2026 UTIL/P, Apollo HS, Uncommitted

Elias displayed solid two strike hitting, finding a hole in the infield and advancing the offensive effort in a key situation. His ability to remain calm and make productive contact with two strikes shows maturity beyond his years. Elias’ versatility as a position player and his ability to hit in tough situations will make him an important piece for his team as he continues to refine his skills.

Angel Torres, 2026 1B/P, Apollo HS, Uncommitted

Angel demonstrated the ability to go the opposite way with a solid single to right field, showing excellent plate discipline and an ability to adjust to different pitches. His mature approach to hitting and his ability to make consistent contact are impressive traits for a player of his age. Angel continues to develop as a well rounded hitter who can contribute in various game situations.

Andrew Garcia, 2027 LHP/1B, Cesar Chavez HS, Uncommitted

Andrew Garcia, an athletic left-handed pitcher, has an exciting future on the mound. He topped out at 85mph with his fastball and showcased a breaking ball with solid depth and a changeup that moves effectively. His ability to mix his pitches and keep hitters off balance in his 4 inning outing was a sign of his potential. As he refines his command and gains more experience, Andrew has the tools to develop into a key pitching prospect.


 

Game Recap:

Apollo secured a narrow 3-1 victory over Cesar Chavez on Monday, making it their closest win since March 21st. The Hawks’ offense generated just enough scoring to hold off a strong effort from the Champions. Apollo’s win improved their record to 17-7, while Cesar Chavez dropped to 14-9.

Casteel vs. Hamilton

Baylor Denny, 2027 INF/P, Casteel, Uncommitted

Baylor displays advanced feel for the game on both sides of the ball. On the mound, he showed a three pitch mix with a fastball at 82 to 86 and a high of 87, mixing in a sharp curveball at 72 to 77 and a changeup at 74 to 79. Held a potent Hamilton lineup to just one run early and added an RBI double at the plate. Polished competitor with two-way upside.

Taylor Dodd, 2027 OF/P, Casteel, Uncommitted

Athletic outfielder with sneaky strength and plus instincts on the bases. Picked up multiple hits and turned a routine single into a hustle double with speed and awareness. High motor player who impacts the game in more ways than one.

Boston Kellner, 2025 INF/P, Hamilton, Texas A&M Commit

Physical righty with a live fastball at 88 to 91 and feel to mix. Tunnels well with a tight slider at 74 to 80 and a fading changeup at 77 to 81. Gets late life on the fastball up and creates issues for hitters with late glove side action on the slider and arm side dive on the changeup.

Evan Hedlund, 2028 OF/LHP, Casteel, Uncommitted

Young lefty with poise beyond his years. Fastball sat 81 to 84 with a curveball at 74 to 76 and a changeup at 71 to 74. Came in to face two hitters and struck out one, showing confidence and command in a tough matchup against a veteran lineup.

Game Recap:

Hamilton faced Casteel in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Huskies took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colts. The Huskies' loss signaled the end of their seven game winning streak. Hamilton's defeat dropped their record to 19-6. As for Casteel, they are on a roll lately with wins in 12 of their last 16 games, bringing their season record to 17-7.

Canyon View vs. Liberty

Player Notes:

Eli McBryde, 2026 C, Canyon View HS, uncommitted
A steady presence behind the dish for the Jaguars, McBryde continues to deliver in key moments. He executed a textbook hit and run in the 1st inning, driving a well placed RBI double to give his team an early lead. His understanding of situational hitting and ability to handle velocity stood out once again. McBryde’s consistent offensive contributions and leadership behind the plate make him a reliable piece in the Canyon View lineup.

Marley Chancey, 2026 OF/RHP, Liberty HS, uncommitted
Chancey’s knack for reaching base continues to be a calling card in his game. In the 1st inning, he battled with two strikes and laced a line drive single into right-center, setting the tone for Liberty’s offense. His approach at the plate shows maturity and patience, and he always seems to make something happen. Whether in the outfield or at the plate, Chancey remains one of the more consistent contributors for the Lions.

Ricardo Yuriar Jr., 2027 INF, Canyon View HS, uncommitted
Yuriar made his presence felt in the later innings with a no-doubt blast to left-center, a two-run shot in the 6th that gave Canyon View some breathing room. The sophomore continues to show flashes of high upside, with advanced bat speed and a mature approach for his age. His power potential is becoming more evident, and his overall game will be one to watch closely as he continues to develop.

Landon Hood, 2025 RHP, Canyon View HS, Gonzaga commit

Hood was locked in from the start, tossing a complete game shutout while allowing just six hits and striking out seven. Working comfortably in the 85-88 range with his fastball and mixing in a sharp curveball (71-74) and fading changeup (73-75), the senior righty showed polish and poise. He’s been nails all spring and looks to be peaking at the perfect time as the postseason approaches.

Game Recap:

Canyon View came tearing into Wednesday’s matchup riding a 13-game win streak and only added to their momentum, blanking Liberty 6-0 behind a dominant outing from senior righty Landon Hood. The Jaguars’ pitching has been airtight of late, and this game was no exception as they collected their seventh straight road win and improved to 25-4 on the season. Offensively, Brock Berlan sparked the lineup with a perfect 2-for-2 day that included two doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Ricardo Yuriar chipped in with a two-run homer to help secure the win. Liberty, meanwhile, drops to 15-10 after their second consecutive loss.

Corona del Sol vs. Basha

Player Notes:

Connor Long, 2027 INF/RHP, Corona del Sol, uncommitted

Athletic two-way follow with a physical presence in the box. Turned around a pitch and launched a no-doubt home run to left, showing off his pull side power. Strength in the hands and quick bat speed stand out. Continues to trend up offensively.

Ben Jacobus, 2028 OF, Corona del Sol, uncommitted

Young left-handed hitter with a clean stroke and mature approach. Stayed on a two-strike pitch and lined it to right for a single, showing barrel awareness and poise beyond his age. One to watch as he develops physically.

Conor Rae, 2027 UTIL, Corona del Sol, uncommitted

Versatile defender and competitive presence at the plate. Jumped on a pitch and laced it into the right/center gap for a standup double, sparking a late game rally. Confident swings and quality at bats continue to show up in big moments.

Brett Crossland, 2025 RHP, Corona del Sol, Texas commit

Turned in a dominant no-hit performance, striking out nine over six shutout innings while walking just one. Sat comfortably in the low 90s, touching 95 with his fastball and attacking hitters with advanced command. The big right-hander continues to impress with his poise, power, and ability to control the game.

Game Recap:

Corona del Sol rolled to a 10-0 shutout win over Basha, continuing their streak of dominant performances with their 12th victory by six or more runs this season. Behind a no-hitter from Crossland and timely contributions from the offense, the Aztecs improved to 20-5 on the year and extended their road win streak to eight. Over that stretch, their pitching staff has allowed just 0.8 runs per game. Basha dropped to 11-14-1 with the loss, snapping their three-game winning streak.


April 25, 2025

Desert Vista vs. O'Connor

Player Notes:

Hudson Droz, 2027 INF, Desert Vista, uncommitted.

Athletic right handed hitter with a compact stroke and quick hands through the zone. Showed strong barrel control with a standup double down the line and later added an RBI triple smoked to right-center. Moves well on the bases with instincts and aggression. Projects as a top of the order bat with ability to hit for extra bases.

Camden Honsa, 2028 C, Desert Vista, uncommitted.

Solidly built catcher with a simple, repeatable right-handed swing. Displayed strong feel for contact with an RBI single back up the middle, helping jumpstart the Thunder offense early. Developing strength and solid receiving actions behind the plate point toward continued growth both offensively and defensively.

Hagen Haefs, 2027 RHP, Desert Vista, uncommitted.

Projectable right hander with a clean, athletic delivery. Fastball sat 87-88 mph with late life through the zone, pairing it with a fading 79-81 mph changeup and a sharp 74-76 mph curveball. Came out of the bullpen to throw three dominant, scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Poised presence on the mound with the ability to miss barrels and control tempo.

Game Recap:

Desert Vista turned in a complete effort on Friday, shutting out Sandra Day O’Connor 5-0 to pick up a statement win. After struggling against the Eagles in recent matchups, the Thunder flipped the script behind a three hit day from Hudson Droz and a combined shutout effort on the mound from Brock MacDonald and Hagen Haefs. MacDonald threw four scoreless innings, while Haefs closed the door with three no-hit frames to seal the victory. Desert Vista now moves to 17-9 on the season.
