Throughout the preseason and into the spring, Prep Baseball Washington travelled across the state, getting updated looks at top prospects and seeing many new players with incredible talent. With the information gathered, we conclude our series of rankings updates with the class of 2028.

As high school action takes place in Washington, we examine several aspects of the 2028 rankings list, including "At the Top", "Notable Newcomers”, "Preseason Showcase Standouts", and "Prospects to Circle this Spring".

At the top

Madden Pike SS / RHP / Puyallup, WA / 2028

The number one prospect in the 2028 class retains his top spot after looks in the preseason and in-game this spring. Pike's dynamic athleticism shined at the Seattle Preseason ID - Session II this March, highlighted by a loud bullpen session with a FB sitting 86-88 T 89 MPH, a catcher pop time of 1.85 seconds, and 92 MPH throws from the outfield. The switch-hitter also showcased impressive BP rounds, sinking deep into his lower half with uphill barrel paths from both the right and left hand side. The 5'9 prospect has carried momentum into high school ball, where he has been a key contributor at the varsity level for #1 ranked undefeated Puyallup. The RHP has an astonishing 0.94 ERA with 40 strikeouts in 29.2 IP while also getting on base at over a .370 clip. Pike has certainly solidified his top ranking to this point and should continue to be one of the most dynamic players in his class.

Lincoln Moore SS / RHP / Kentlake, WA / 2028

Moore had a great two-way showing at PNW Preseason All-State this winter after catching the eye of Prep Baseball Staff at last year's Junior Future Games. The 6'2, 185 pound player looks to slowly be adding more strength to the frame while maintaining his athleticism, highlighted by a 6.95 60-yard dash time. Moore's prowess as a position player is exciting to dream on, with a mature field tool and exit velocities that peaked at 99.6 MPH in the winter. The righty also ran his FB up to 86 MPH from the mound despite likely being a position player moving forward. Moore's projectability and smooth overall game keep him at the two spot in a talented state class.

Collin McGowan C / RHP / Battle Ground High School, WA / 2028

McGowan was seen at the PNW Fall ID as well as an in-game look this spring, and the physicality combined with the skillset is what really stands out here. The 6'2 athlete runs a 7.25 60-yard dash and profiles well at 3B or C to this point. The raw power is certainly there at the plate, and though the power is still developing in-game, the freshman does have 4 doubles in varsity action so far this spring. The righty has also run his FB up into the mid-80's on the mound. McGowan will be a must-follow bat out of southern Washington in the coming years.

Notable Newcomers

Noah Adams OF / RHP / Kentlake, WA / 2028

Perhaps no freshman has had as much offensive success to this point in HS action than Adams, who was equally as impressive at PNW Preseason All-State this winter. The 6'0 prospect is currently hitting .404 atop the order for Kentlake's varsity squad with 3 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs and 14 RBI in 47 at-bats so far. Adams caught the eye of Prep Baseball Staff with a strong, balanced swing in the winter, driving balls up to 93.2 MPH and rarely looking out of sync at the plate. The outfielder ran a 6.95 second 60-yard dash time and has manned CF well for Kentlake. Adams is the lone new addition to the top ten and has fully earned the highest rankings debutee spot on the list.

Albertino Pozzo OF / RHP / Mercer Island, WA / 2028

JFG alum showed great tools on the mound at the PNW Preseason ID, and has upside despite some mixed results early in his HS career. Flashed a 3-pitch mix with a FB up to 84 MPH with over 2500 RPM on average. Impressive SL/CB combination, both pitches biting hard with plus spin rates. Medium framed athlete was on the barrel in BP rounds, averaging 87 MPH exit velocities with a peak of 93.2 MPH.

Max Bergford LHP / 1B / Gig Harbor, WA / 2028

6'4 lefty has plenty to dream on, showing well in the preseason and already logging varsity innings for a strong Gig Harbor team. FB sits in the low 80's from a compact, lower height release. Development and refining of the offspeed will be key, but the lefty throws plenty of strikes and has the frame to handle more velocity down the road. Posted exit velocities up to 97.1 MPH as well.

Preseason Showcase Standouts

Kobe Reese OF / OF / Eastside Catholic, WA / 2028

Perhaps no player showed out better in the preseason than Reese, who led all Washington prospects regardless of class with a 106.4 MPH peak exit velocity at PNW Preseason All-State. Reese makes a leap up the top ten after showing incredible foundations of a LH swing with bat speed and present strength in the 6'3 frame. The righty glove already mans center field for a talented Eastside Catholic squad and is hitting .318 in the middle of the Crusader order. Reese's tools that played in a loud way in a showcase environment are proving to translate at the HS level.

Joseph Bense C / RHP / Ferndale, WA / 2028

Bense's reputation as a standout defender at catcher were on display at PNW Preseason All-State, highlighted by quick, twitchy actions and a 1.90 second pop time with 79 MPH throws on the bag. Compact-framed athlete also ran a 7.27 second 60-yard dash and posted a peak exit velocity of 92.7 MPH. Bense is another freshman off to a great start in HS action as well, hitting .333 to this point.

Daniel Sleeter SS / RHP / Peninsula, WA / 2028

One of the more surprising bullpens this spring, as the freshman ran his FB up to 84 MPH while averaging over 2400 RPM of spin on the pitch. Sleeter showcased a fluid, free arm action and quick arm out front with a three-pitch mix at PNW Preseason All-State. The Peninsula High School product has also seen varsity action and will be closely followed this summer at PNW State Games.

Prospects to Circle This Spring

Ryan Perkins LHP / OF / Lincoln, WA / 2028

Perkins is one of several standout underclassman arms at Lincoln, and looked the part of a top-ten player in a look this spring. The lefty's FB sat in the low 80's, but reached back and topped out at 85 MPH when needed. CB was mixed in consistently at 70-73 MPH from a repeatable delivery. 6'2 arm is a name to circle with a workhorse, steady demeanor and present stuff on the mound.

Trey Holdren 1B / LHP / Southridge, WA / 2028

Holdren showed well at the Central Washington Preseason ID, and the lefty is hitting a remarkable .408 in 49 AB's of high school varsity action. Features an upright posture with quickness in the barrel, posting exit velocities up to 96.2 MPH in the winter. One of the premier underclass talents in the eastern part of the state.

Brayden Seiber 3B / RHP / Kennedy Catholic, WA / 2028

Seiber looked more than comfortable manning 3B for Kennedy Catholic in a recent game attended by Prep Baseball. The RH bat played better in-game than previously shown, with a flatter approach and feel for the barrel. With developing arm strength and present athleticism, expect the 6'1 prospect to make steady improvements to his game.
