Uncommitted Spotlight: 2026 Corner Infielders

Cooper Trinkle
Scouting Director

We are nearly halfway through the spring and inching closer and closer towards the summer recruiting period. This end-of-spring to summer period is a vital time for uncommitted juniors, as recruiters will likely be out in bunches at this time in order to evaluate this class. Our staff plans to break down the top uncommitted players at each position as we near this time, with plenty of talented options still on the board. We move next to the corner infielders, 12 highlighted below, with our most recent showcase video attached of each prospect, along with a scouting report for those that have attended events within the last year.

Gavin Jackson 3B / Providence  / 2026

From (3/18/25)

Profile - Strong, 6-foot, 205 pound right-handed hitter. Present abv avg power with 102-plus exits and a solid hit tool is paired with that. Tick abv avg bat speed (72 mph). Profiles as a CIF, middle of the lineup type bat. Abv avg thrower now with arm taking a step up, fringy runner. Actions - Offense: Starts in athletic, strong stance with small backshift and hands climb to offset a heavier forward move. Doesn't get cheated, looks to do damage at the front of the hitting zone with shorter path that works steep at times. Hands are quick and deliver a heavy barrel. Linear operation, present g2g & pull-side power developing w innate feel to get the ball in the air pull-side. Defense: Fundamental footwork, feet are heavy at times. Hands are sure and best attribute on the dirt. Summation: Gavin is a high-character kid with great makeup that takes a heavy barrel with him to the plate. He has a chance to stick at 3B in college, but make no mistake, you are getting a run-producers' bat here. The bat has played in-game over a long track record & he can control the zone while swinging an accurate barrel. He reminds me in many ways of 2017 grad Tanner Craig, the current all-time HR leader at the University of Evansville.

Liam Smith 3B / OF / Bloomington North  / 2026

From (3/20/25)

+ Smith is an uncommitted bat that I really like heading into the spring with big projection to the 6-foot-4, 190 pound athletic frame. The card is full of average to better tools that he showed at this event, with no major deficiency in his game, & you bet on the frame to add strength which could bring near plus raw power down the round. Exits have been into the 100s before, and the operation is more athletic and flowy compared to previous look. The arm is a solid tool (86 INF/87 OF) & he is an average runner (7.17) who profiles best in the corner outfield &/or infield. Area RC's with a need for a '26 bat should get a look on Smith this spring or summer, with a chance to polish and mature into a next-level run-producer.

Luke Arnett 1B / Bloomington South / 2026

+ Arnett holds the look of a next-level run producer with a physical, 6-foot-4, 215 pound frame and big strength in the left-handed bat. He has reached triple digit exits with a short, 'flicky' left-handed swing that plays with accuracy, and there is feel for leverage and lift pull-side when needed. He is not just a power bat, but approaches the plate with a more 'hitterish' mindset, though the frame and bat strength suggest his back-spun bullets may end up carrying further and further as he matures. Arnett is off to an outlandish start to the spring as one of 4A's hottest hitters this spring, with his stat-line thru 11 games played being : .562 avg, 4 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 14 RBI, and only 2 strikeouts in 40 plate appearances.

Bennett Hartford 3B / 2B / Penn / 2026

From (3/18/25)

Profile - Stocky, 6-foot, 195 pounder. Bat is best tool and holds power potential. 104-plus exit allows for present abv avg power grades, hit the furthest batted ball of the event per Trackman (404 feet). Present plus bat speed with 79 mph avg & flashed higher. He is a tick above average runner (6.90) with fringe average arm strength (83 across). Profiles as bat-first 2B/3B. Actions - Offense: Starts tall & relaxed. Toe tap stride retracts early in the operation and he counterbalances a heavy forward move with a handsy, lower load. Aggressive intent w flatter path and heaviness to the barrel. Best balls are struck pull-side. Defense: Fundamental actions w solid glove to hand. Can quick release. Summation: The raw strength in the box is what I like most about Hartford. He turns the barrel w tremendous bat speed for the age with big impacts presently. Hartford was an unofficial "MVP" of our Fall State Games and should continue to see his name rise on our list as he gears up for a big junior spring for Penn. He is more athletic than the stocky frame suggests with solid actions on the dirt.

Cooper Cammack 1B / RHP / University / 2026

From (3/18/25)

Cammack's batting practice was loud - with exits peaking at 104-plus while he averaged 94 mph throughout. There is a ton of upside in the projectable, 6-foot-5, 190 pound young-for-class frame to dream on plus raw power developing at some point. There is abv avg bat speed present with likely more on the way as he adds more mass to his leaner frame. It is an aggressive operation with a direct barrel working to the front of the hitting zone & his best balls are struck pull-side. A primary 1B now, the 7.11 run time leaves a corner OF profile open, or he could pack on strength and go all in on the bat to stick at 1B.

Kendrick Pena 1B / 3B / C / William Henry Harrison / 2026

From (3/18/25)

Pena is an upside follow with a chance to blossom. He is a left-handed hitter with a lean, 6-foot, 170 pound frame that has room for future projections. Presently, he shows a fluid stroke with exits peaking at over 98 mph and g2g feel. He is a primary infielder with some arm strength (84 across) and fits a right-side infield mold, and he also has upside behind the dish with athletic actions and a 78 mph arm from the crouch.

Chase Nickols 3B / SS / Cathedral / 2026

From (3/18/25)

After a big sophomore spring for Cathedral and quality looks on the circuit last summer, Nickols came back to the All-State with a more physical-looking, 6-foot-2, 175 pound frame - and still room for strength gains. The bat is his best tool and the lanky right-handed hitter offers a well-paced, well-connected, right-handed stroke that is very playable & his exits peaked at 96-plus. He now has an above average run tool to pair (6.90) and likely profiles best as a 2B/3B.

Brady Anderson 3B / RHP / Vincennes Lincoln / 2026

From (3/19/25)

+ '26 3B/RHP Brady Anderson (Vincennes Lincoln) will be a big riser in our next update, continuing to show awesome development in his overall game. His exits have jumped in a 5+ mph fashion compared to his sophomore season, now 100.9 mph off the bat with a sweet left-handed swing, and he shows feel to control his forward move with a toe tap stride. He cut almost 0.3 off of his 60-yard dash this winter, now a solid average tool as he turned in a 7.09 at this event. The foot speed elevating stems from really solid body comp improvements and his frame is now a leaner, more-athletic looking, 5-foot-11, 190 pounds. He has elevated on the mound, as well, with a +4 mph velocity jump compared to just December. Anderson pitched at 86-87.5 on a fastball with slight arm-side run, and he showed three usable offspeed pitches, including: a 75-76 mph slider that plays with big sweep, a low-80s sinking change, and a big, upper-60s curveball with depth.

Gavin Neal 3B / OF / New Palestine / 2026

From (3/01/25)

Gavin Neal is a strong, athletic 6-foot-1, 195-pound third baseman with offensive upside. He hits from a strong setup and flashes bat speed, producing a 98 mph max exit velocity and averaging 86.3 mph with a 306’ max distance—indicating real power potential. Defensively, Neal shows a quick, compact arm across the infield at 85 mph, and his physicality and arm strength profile well at the hot corner. He ran a 7.38 60-yard dash.

Jack Bland 3B / 1B / Avon / 2026

From (3/01/25)

Jack Bland is a 2026 3B with a solid, 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame that carries present strength and room for more. The left-handed hitter flashes above average bat speed in a short, on-plane swing that works with some strength through impact—evidenced by a 96 mph max exit velocity and 89.3 average. Defensively, Bland shows a strong 86 mph arm across the infield and moves with solid body control. A 7.07 runner with a 21.4” vertical, there’s athleticism to pair with the offensive upside.

Beck Jordan 3B / 1B / Westfield / 2026

From (3/20/25)

+ Beck Jordan, 3B, Westfield: The bat is the tool to like with the 6-foot-2, 195 pounder. His exits reached 100-plus with a short swing that works against a firm frontside to create some whip. He averaged 95-plus throughout to speak towards the barrel accuracy, and his power was shown from gap2gap. Defensively, he shows fringy foot speed with average actions at 3B and an 84 mph arm across the diamond.

Daniel Phillips 1B / OF / Brownsburg / 2026

From (2/19/25)

+ '26 OF/1B Daniel Phillips (Brownsburg) showed in a positive light with lots of strength in the left-handed batters' box. The 6-foot, 185 pounder showcased some bat-to-ball with a clean path and exits jumping up to 98.5 on the high-end. There is some drift in the lower-half that can be cleaned up but the barrel strength is a positive trait that has continued to improve over the last couple of seasons. Phillips is a versatile defender that can play 1B or a corner outfield spot with average arm strength.
