Last week, Prep Baseball staff attended several high school games across Washington. Several standout prospects showed well at these games. Below are scouting notes on some of the top performers.

Monroe vs Jackson (4.4.25)

Monroe

‘26 RHP/OF Caleb Campbell (Monroe)
Worked in a limited capacity on the bump this time around as he ramps up pitch count after missing some time. Pitched 82-84 and topped 85 across 2 hitless innings while punching out 2. Flashed SL at 72-75. Overall looked free and easy on the bump and was dialed in when it was a crucial moment or big count. FB was up to 88.5 back in the summer and all signs indicate he’s trending in that direction as he gets more innings under his belt. Defensively moved to the OF after his stint on the mound and provided the defensive web gem of the game with a tremendous sliding catch on a sinking line drive to prevent the game winning run from scoring. His overall athleticism and frame still highly project and there’s considerable ceiling left for Campbell to tap into. Gonzaga commit.

‘26 RHP AJ Welch (Monroe)
Welch put together a strong outing in relief that far exceeds what a box score might represent. Some defensive miscues made life more difficult on this look and he consistently had to make pitches out of the stretch and navigate traffic on the bases. In 3.2 IP he punched out 5 while flashing a 4 pitch mix and ultimately utilizing his FB/SL combo primarily. FB topped at 90 and held 85-88 throughout. Cutter/SL varied at times between 77-82 with sharp, late horizontal action that generated consistent swing and miss. Early on he flashed an average CH at 80-81 and briefly showed a CB at 75. Overall the pure stuff has ticked up a bit from previous looks and he did a solid job maintaining his stuff deep into this one on a chilly spring night. Continues to operate with an easy delivery and sound mechanics. Tight, quick arm action projects well and gives him a chance to continue making gains. Uncommitted.

‘25 OF Brennan Sheppard (Monroe)
Sheppard was arguably the top offensive performer of the night and showcased above average raw power every time he connected. Finished 2-5, 3B, 2 R, 3 RBI. Hits from a balanced stance with very few moving parts and creates bat speed in a tight window thanks to his strong, powerful levers in the upper half. 2 sport athlete. George Fox football commit.

Jackson

‘27 INF/RHP Austin Halvorson (Jackson)
The rising sophomore got the start on the mound and put together a quality outing in the the 5th inning. Had some tough luck with most balls that were put in play on this one with the 8 total hits from the line score being a little misleading. Overall he attacked the zone with a riding FB at 80-84, topped at 85 and a CB at 69-72 with tight spin and big shape. Didn’t allow a BB and punched out 5 batters. Worked exclusively from the stretch with a big hip coil at leg lift and a short, condensed takeaway after hand break to give some added deception to his arm action. Offensively had a 1-4 day with 2 RBI and delivered a big single to push 2 runners across in a crucial spot of the game. Highly projectable athlete who can do a lot of things on the diamond and continues to show improvements on each look. Uncommitted.

‘27 C Gavin Duckart (Jackson)
Put together a strong defensive showing and had a productive day at the plate going 1-3, R, 2 BB. Defensively presents a low, compact target with easy mobility both as a receiver and out of the crouch. Threw out 2 runners, one at 2nd and the other at 3rd in a crucial spot. Showed off some quality tools across multiple showcases earlier this year and so far has proven to have the ability to perform with those tools between the lines when it matters. Intriguing follow as a defense minded C with contact ability. Uncommitted.

‘26 RHP Derek Sundstrom (Jackson)
Just had a quick 1.1 IP look at Sundstrom in this matchup but he flashed enough arm talent to warrant future attention. Pitches from a higher, over the top release with a FB that topped at 85 and settled mostly in the 82-83 range. Didn’t get a great look at secondaries in this brief appearance but overall he’s got a strong lower half and some exciting arm speed. Uncommitted.

‘26 INF/RHP Quinten Johns (Jackson)
Speedy INF prospect who had a quality game at the plate and came into pitch late and ultimately secured a W for Jackson as they walked off in extras. Lean, projectable athlete with a plus run tool who hits from the left-side. Pitches with a low 80s FB & shows a quick, easy arm path out front with sound body control and a repeatable delivery. Uncommitted.

‘26 OF/LHP Ashton Bergman (Jackson)
High energy player who has really taken his game forward with physical development and added strength. Since our first look back in 2024, all of the tools across the board have improved and Bergman can impact the game in several ways with his L/L profile. Had a nice day at the plate going 2-5 with a run scored. Uncommitted.

North Creek vs. Mount Si (4.7.25)

North Creek

'26 RHP Jack Cochran (Uncommitted)
The junior arm with plenty of varsity innings was one half of what turned out to be a pitchers duel on Monday. Some effective wildness but spotted up a FB in the upper 70's when needed. CH/SL offspeed combination flashed from lean frame. Some jerky, twitchy limbs through wind and fire gave some added deception. Pitched with an edge on the mound. Final line of 5 IP, 4 H, R (0 ER), 3 BB, 5 K.

'25 INF/RHP Cayden Christopherson (Everett CC Commit)
One of two players on Monday with multiple hits on what was a very quiet offensive night. Strong-framed senior roped a ball up the middle in the third inning in what was the loudest barrel for NC. Came up huge in the fifth inning with a gutsy two-strike, two-out squeeze bunt, beating it out at first to plate the first run for the Jaguars. Walked as well to reach base a total of three times. Critical two-way piece for North Creek this spring.

'25 1B Joseph Boschee (Uncommitted)
Senior was the other player with a multi-hit game, finishing 2-3 from the bottom of the order. Was the benefactor of a pop up that dropped in the infield to plate what would be the game winning run for North Creek. Quick, simple swing from the RH side that produced results. 1B-only type defensively made every play in-game, showcasing a nice ability to pick it in INF/OF as well.

'25 RHP Dominic Wilson (Everett CC Commit)
Wilson was a key arm in North Creek's state tournament run a season ago, and shut down Monday's game with ease. FB ran up to 84 MPH but sat more in the 80-82 range, with a CH at 70-71 and SL 72-73. Deliberate pace in between pitches and in wind. Filled up the zone. Went 2 innings in relief, giving up just one hit, one walk and striking out one batter.

Mount Si

'26 RHP/INF Jimmy Pratapas (Uncommitted)
Junior that's gotten a bit of buzz this spring looked the part despite working through traffic through most of his outing on the mound. Clean arm action and delivery with quick actions down the mound. FB sat 85-88, topping at 88.7 MPH on a colder night. CH was strongest offspeed delivery with fading action at 73-75 MPH, thrown in all counts. SL showed nice shape at times at 71-75 MPH. Gave up one unearned run in his final inning, the only blemish on a 5 inning outing with 6 K's and 2 BB's. Also notched two hits including a loud double in the gap. Standout performer.

'25 OF Preston Przybylski (George Fox Commit)
Athletic corner OF type DH'ed in this one, going 1-3 with a double deep into LCF. Keeps weight coiled on rear leg with low leg lift load, rotating through the zone with an uphill barrel path. Showed ability to shorten approach with two strikes with the double as well as reaching on an error when behind in the count. Part of a strong senior class for the Wildcats.

'25 OF Eddie Coons (Feather River Commit)
Senior that was recently seen at PNW Preseason All-State hit in the three hole and manned right field in what is an extremely athletic outfield group for Mount Si. 6.8 runner was a long strider to track balls down in the outfield with average arm strength. Went 1-3 with a barrelled single and a walk at the plate. Wide base as weight drifts forward at contact.
