Ty Cook LHP / OF / Scott High School

Leading the Scott High School offense and rotation so far this season has been freshman two-way Ty Cook. A multi-sport athlete in the 10th Region, Cook played varsity minutes in 23 games as SG for the basketball team this winter. After wrapping up basketball season, the lefty jumped on the mound and threw an impressive bullpen at our Preseason All-State event, running the fastball up to 82mph to suggest some definite offseason growth. Pairing this with a 70-75mph SL and 68-69mph CH, the young southpaw has crafted a nice three pitch mix that has proven effective already this season. Cook leads the Scott pitching staff with 12.0 IP in two starts this year, allowing just 3 H, 0 ER, 4 BB and an eye-catching 23 strikeouts. At the plate for the Eagles, Cook is batting .304 this season with 7 H, 5 R, 4 RBI, 5 BB and 3 SB. The young two-way is no stranger to facing varsity competition, especially on the bump. Cook recorded a perfect 4-0 record in 29.1 IP as an 8th grader last season, where he struck out 35, allowing 14 BB and 22 H enroute to a team low 2.39 ERA. The lefty works with a smooth and slow-tempo lift before a slight drop-and-drive delivery, remaining under control all the way through with a slightly closed front-side upon landing. Certainly a high ceiling ahead as the 5'11" 155lb two-way fills out his projectible frame, and continues to develop confidence and fine-tune his movements on the mound.

Jackson Burke SS / 2B / Christian Academy of Louisville

What might be the highest ceiling in the 2028 class belongs the young CAL middle infielder, who has some of the best all-round mechanics and one of the highest baseball IQs in the class. In addition to his baseball talents, Burke received solid varsity time as PG on the basketball court this past winter and is lined up to take over the QB1 spot this fall on the gridiron. Despite the small stature at just 5'8" and 135lbs, Burke stood out at the 2024 Junior Future Games for his effortlessly smooth swing and near-perfect defensive skills. At the plate, the young MIF starts with a tall, balanced stance, then displays a very steady and controlled slide-step load before a level swing plane through the zone. Burke has shown the ability to handle velocity and movement alike, finding barrels consistently with a great contact approach in the box. Earning the starting spot at 2B for the Centurions this season, Burke is facing arguably the best competition in the state in a 7th Region that includes three programs ranked in the top-5. Look for the young infielder to quickly build confidence as the very young Christian Academy-Louisville program is appearing to experience a very exciting next few years.

Jaxson White 1B / OF / OWENSBORO CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

Another true athlete near the top of the 2028 class, Jaxson White has been seeing varsity innings since his 7th grade season back in 2023. The clean footwork and fielding mechanics are some of the best in the class, as showcased by White's 2023 Junior Future Games performance. At the plate, the 6'0" 160lb two-way uses his fast hands and a quick bat, starting with a slightly open stance before a slight load and very explosive hip drive. Finds barrels consistently to all parts of the field. On the mound, White displays a long delivery, getting down the mound with a 3/4 arm angle. The southpaw works a firm FB/CB/CH mix with heavy movement and good command, with FB velocities already nearing 80mph the last time the KY staff saw him on the mound a couple summers ago. White is up to 5.2 IP this season and is yet to give up a run, allowing 1 H and 1 BB while striking out 8. The young two-way is definitely a great one to follow as he develops in a challenging 3rd Region.

Remy Brown OF / Campbellsville High School

One of the most athletic prospects in the young 2028 class, two-way Remy Brown is undoubtedly one to follow during these next few years in the Bluegrass State. A standout at the 2024 Junior Future Games, the young two-way has continued to build strength, already turning him into a premier athlete. Currently standing in at 5'9" 145lbs, Brown has already recorded incredibly impressive metrics, including an exit velocity just a tenth shy of 90mph, an outfield velocity up to 91mph, a fastball up to 84mph, and arguably most eye-opening of them all is a 6.61s 60 yard dash time. The highly projectible OF/RHP has been putting that footspeed to use this season, already swiping 10 bags for the Campbellsville offense. At the plate, the two-way works with a compact, explosive move and a strong cotact approach for gap to gap power. On the mound, Brown uses a slow and balanced lift before an explosive delivery, seeing great extension down the mound. The arm works from a mostly over the top slot, with a definite chance to develop into a high-velocity prospect as he further builds strength.

Alex Hood C / OF / OWENSBORO CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL

Another young gun out of the Owensboro Catholic program, Alex Hood has stood out for a while in the Prep Baseball KY circuit as one of the top catchers in the class. The young C/OF is finally starting to really put the pieces together and has secured a starting spot in the Aces' varsity lineup this season. Playing behind the #2 catcher in the state in 2025 Western Kentucky commit Brady Atwell, Hood has found himself locking down the corner outfield so far this year. In the box, the 5'11" 190lb righty starts in a tall, athletic stance, before displaying a controlled toe-tap load into a swing that engages the hips for high leverage and gap to gap contact. Behind the dish, Hood stood out to the KY staff last August, working a 76mph catcher velocity at our State AC games after a great performance at the '23 Junior Future Games a year prior. Last fall, Hood flashed an impressive 1.98s pop time at Prep Baseball IN's Top Tier Scout Day. As the young C/OF continues to build strength and develop more mobility, Hood is shaping up to be a big name to follow in the Bluegrass State.
