Each week throughout the high school season, we will announce the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the state. With numerous players excelling both at the plate and on the mound, this award will be based on nominations from high school coaches statewide. A special thank you to Mizuno for sponsoring these awards and to the coaches for their nominations.

Additionally, we will continue our Alabama Diamond Notes, released every Wednesday, to highlight other deserving players nominated by coaches who were not selected as the Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week.

Mizuno Week 8 Player of the Week

Jack Ross 3B / RHP / Homewood High School, AL / 2025 Rankings  StateRank: 37 / POS: 4 3B/RHP Jack Ross of Homewood HS has been named the Mizuno Player of the Week for Week 8 of the 2025 season after an outstanding two-way performance. At the plate, the Southern Union CC recruit went 7-for-12 (.583) with three home runs, a triple, a double, six runs scored, nine RBIs, and a walk. On the mound, Ross was equally impressive, tossing a complete-game shutout with seven innings of two-hit ball, no walks, and eight strikeouts on just 73 pitches—58 of which were strikes. His efforts helped power Homewood to a perfect 4-0 week, improving the Patriots to 26-6 overall and securing a No. 5 ranking in the final Class 6A state poll.
