Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state

Thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.  

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 9 (Apr 14-Apr 20).

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Spencer Duncan OF / Gateway College Prepatory School, TX / 2025

Spencer Duncan put together a dominant performance in Week 9, earning himself Player of the Week honors. The Oklahoma Christian recruit went 5-for-9 at the plate, showcasing his power and speed with 2 home runs, and a double. He also racked up 4 runs scored and 3 RBIs, playing a key role in his team's success. Duncan was a triple away from the cycle on 4/18.

 

 

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Hank Rizzo RHP / Prosper, TX / 2025

Grayson College recruit Hank Rizzo was nearly untouchable in Week 9, earning Pitcher of the Week honors with a lights-out performance on the mound. Rizzo tossed 6 2/3 hitless innings, racking up an incredible 17 strikeouts. His dominance set the tone and left opposing hitters with no answers all game long. The Eagles would go on to win this game 6-0 behind this stellar performance.
