Updated Illinois Power 25 Rankings

Illinois Scouting Staff

Its our second time updating the Power 25 since we released our initial preseason rankings, and we have yet another new face sitting atop the list, with Lincoln-Way West boasting a perfect 8-0 record after a 4-0 week. There are no groundbreaking movements throughout the rest of the Power 25, as most teams played well and are in similar positions to last week. There are two new faces though, with Fremd and DePaul College Prep both making their rankings debuts.

Continue reading below to see the complete Power 25 update.

Rising

+ No. 1 Lincoln-Way West (8-0): A 4-0 week has the Warriors taking over the No. 1 spot, who now sit at 8-0 on the year. They’ve been led so far by recent Super 60 standout and Kentucky signee Conor Essenburg (2025), who leads the team with a .615 batting average and five home runs already. This past week, they took down Calvary Christian (GA) 11-6, Troy (OH) 8-5 & 16-2, and Coffee (GA) 10-9 in extras.

+ No. 5 Brother Rice (6-1): The Crusaders are rising two spots to No. 5 after a dominant 3-0 week. They had two big wins on the week, taking down Kentucky’s top-ranked Trinity 5-3, and Kentucky’s fourth-ranked team St. Xavier 12-6. They also battled back from a 7-2 deficit to walk-off Lincoln-Way Central 8-7.

+ No. 7 Nazareth (11-0): The Roadrunners continue to rise in the rankings with a perfect 4-0 week, now up one spot to No. 7. RHP Mac McGarry (2025; Western Kentucky commit) has been a huge factor for them on the mound, firing a perfect game two weeks ago over Romeoville and backing it up in his last outing with six one-hit innings, striking out 12. Over the course of the week, the Roadrunners took down Morton (Cicero) 2-1, Riverside Brookfield 8-0, Holy Trinity 11-1 and Monmouth United 11-0.

+ No. 10 Hampshire (11-0): Rising three spots to No. 10, the Whip-Purs went a perfect 3-0 on the week, seeing wins over Madisonville-North (KY) 7-0, Kentucky’s No. 15 team Whitley County 3-2, and Wheaton North 11-7. They’ll be in for a test this week, as they are scheduled to play No. 6 McHenry twice.

+ No. 12 Mascoutah (5-1): Mascoutah only played one game this past week, but it was against No. 1 Edwardsville in which they won 10-0. RHP Austin Musso (2025; Arizona State) shut down the Tigers’ offense with four no-hit innings, striking out six - while talented sophomore right-hander Darren Klein added two shutout innings to help secure the win. The Indians are also slated to take on a ranked O’Fallon club later this week.

+ No. 13 DeKalb (10-0): DeKalb is up three spots to No. 13 after going 2-0 this past week, boasting a spotless 10-0 record. Their two wins came against Harlem 8-3 and Sterling 10-0 - and they have a full slate with four games scheduled for this week.

+ No. 14 Glenwood (4-1): The Titans continue to roll without even having their top arm LHP Cameron Appenzeller (2025; Tennessee commit) throwing for them yet. They only played one game this past week, taking down Springfield 1-0 behind RHP Quinten Hale (2027) and RHP Andrew Wahlbrink (2025; UIS commit), who each allowed just one hit in their combined shutout.

+ No. 15 Father McGivney (9-2): McGivney is rising two spots to No. 15 after going 2-0 this past week, seeing wins over Althoff Catholic 7-1 & 10-0. The Griffins have a busy week ahead with five games scheduled, so they have a chance to really add to their win column.

+ No. 16 O’Fallon (7-1): O’Fallon continues to make moves within the Power 25, moving up four spots this week up to No. 16. The Panthers went 2-0 last week with wins over De Smet Jesuit (MO) 2-1 and Neenah (WI) 8-4. O’Fallon is scheduled to take on CBC (MO) and No. 12 Mascoutah this week.

+ No. 17 Andrew (10-0): The T-Bolts continue to dominate so far in 2025, now sitting at 10-0 and rising seven spots up to No. 17 in this week’s update. Their offense has been on a tear as of late, putting up 10+ runs in six of their last nine games. Andrew is scheduled to take on division foe, No. 23 Lincoln-Way East twice this week, with another matchup scheduled later in the week to take on Burlington Central, who is currently 5-0.

Falling

+ No. 20 St. Laurence (5-3): The Vikings are 5-3 on the year and find themselves at the No. 20 spot after a 1-1 week. They earned a come-from-behind victory over Marist, scoring 12 unanswered runs to run-rule the RedHawks 13-3, however they fell earlier in the week to De La Salle 7-4. Luckily, the Vikings play in one of the premier conferences in the state, the CCL Blue, and will have plenty of opportunities over the next few weeks to build back up their season resume.

+ No. 21 Lemont (3-2-1): Lemont posted a 2-1 week last week while down on their spring break trip, and mainly find themselves falling due to what the other teams around them in the rankings are doing up to this point. Lemont has only played six games as of now as well and are scheduled to play four games this week, so this time next week we could be talking about a bounce back week for the reigning 3A State Runner-Up.

New to the Power 25

+ No. 22 Fremd (6-0-1): Fremd enters the Power 25 at No. 22 after an impressive 6-0-1 start that so far has seen them take down a Huntley team that was No. 15 at the time, and then this past week they took down New Trier, who was ranked No. 10 at the time. The Vikings’ pitching staff had a strong week last week, allowing just six total runs in their three games played.

+ No. 24 DePaul College Prep (11-0): The Rams find themselves at No. 24 in this week’s Power 25 update after getting off to a stellar 11-0 start. They went 4-0 last week with wins over Glenbrook North (2-1), Deerfield (6-5), Amundsen (7-5), and Riverside-Brookfield (2-0). Playing in the CCL Blue will give the Rams plenty of opportunities to build up their resume over the course of the year, and they are a team to continue to keep tabs on moving forward.
