The Prep Baseball Virginia/DC staff makes their way across the Commonwealth and DC throughout the spring to assist high school players in gathering evaluations, including video and some data, that allow our staff to assist in the potential recruitment of student-athletes.

Take a look at a few games and players that stood out over the past week of play.

*Schools and player names are in alphabetical order.*

*If a player does not have a profile, we do not have the ability to feature them in a story.*

Atlantic Shores

Brett Beasley SS / RHP / Atlantic Shores Christian, VA / 2025

Beasley turned in competitive at-bats each time that he stepped up to the plate. In his first at-bat, he was aggressive early in the count and sent a loud line drive into left for a single. He continued to make loud contact throughout the night during his at-bats. At the plate he has controlled aggression with a good feel for the zone. He has aggressive takes to go along with looking to do damage early in counts. Defensively he shows good pace and footwork to be able to make plays. He has above-average arm strength that has a nice carry on his throws to go along with being able to throw from different slots. He brings a different type of energy to the game that is exciting to watch.

Patrick Dudley LHP / OF / Atlantic Shores, VA / 2025

Dudley gave his team the start that they needed to stay in a close game against a quality opponent. He worked into the sixth, keeping the offense at bay. The fastball sat in the 89-91 range, grabbing 92-93 when he wanted late in counts. He did run into a bit of traffic in the fourth and the fifth innings, but he was able to escape with minimal damage. The slider was the go-to pitch when he wanted to get back in counts and put hitters away. It is a high spin profile that works regularly in the 76-78 range and 79-80 when he wants to use it late in counts as a put-away pitch. He brings a competitive edge to the mound that wants the ball in big moments.

Greenbrier Christian Academy

Thomas Conrad OF / 3B / Greenbrier Christian, VA / 2025

A high-energy guy is always needed for a team, and Conrad is exactly that for the Gators. He brought some excitement early on in the game in his first at-bat, picking up a double into left to get the offense started early. He would end up coming around to score in that first inning on a throwing error when he was attempting to steal third. Each time at the plate, he continued to give competitive at-bats. The high instincts play in the game in the outfield, on the basepaths, and at the dish. He is the table setter at the top of the order that brings versatility to the offense.

Ryan Watson 1B / RHP / Greenbrier Christian Academy , VA / 2027

Watson was called on multiple times in big moments, and he came through for the Gators. He came through offensively, working the count and picking up a single to tie the game. Offensively, he is a threat to leave the yard when he steps to the plate with his strength to all fields. His swing decisions continue to improve, selecting the right pitches and recognizing secondary out of the hand. He was also called on to make some big outs on the mound, and he came through again. He attacked hitters with predominantly fastballs that worked 85-87. It is a quick arm that works with intent in the delivery. He has the bulldog mentality that you can use on the back end of games. He showed great composure in those moments, which is good to see from an underclassman.

John Battle

Elijah Childress 3B / SS / John Battle, VA / 2025

Arguably the loudest hit of the night came off the bat of Elijah’s in the second inning, where he unloaded on an inside fastball for a no-doubt home run out of deep left field. He followed that up later with a double to deep center. There is plenty of bat speed and impact in this bat that is used in a gap-to-gap approach. Defensively he made some nice plays at third, being able to move well laterally with some arm strength. His ability to impact the baseball will be key, as his production will be relied on for the Trojans.

Palmer Gobble RHP / John Battle, VA / 2027

Gobble showed some adjustability in his first at-bat, where he recognized a breaking ball on the outer half and sent it back side for a single. It is a slightly open setup with quiet hands that can adjust to different pitches and use the whole field. There is athleticism in the frame that still has room to add strength. He also made some plays in the outfield where he had to run a few hard-hit baseballs down for outs. He brings some versatility and a left-handed bat that can do a little bit of everything on the field.

Porter Gobble RHP / SS / JOHN S. BATTLE HIGH, VA / 2025

It was a strong offensive showing for Gobble, as he was a key contributor for the Trojans on Tuesday. He had a multi-hit night, including a monster solo home run that really got the offense in a groove. He showed aggressiveness at the plate all night, getting his best swing off early in counts. It is a quick, uphill barrel path that works gap to gap with strength to the pull side. It was a big day offensively on his day off from the mound. He is a big contributor on both sides that will be important down the road for the Trojans.

Caden Sturgill C / RHP / JOHN S. BATTLE HIGH, VA / 2026

Sturgill impacted the baseball on a consistent basis on Tuesday night, where he picked up two doubles. He’s a compact athlete at 5-foot-10, 170-pounds who works gap to gap with doubles power. There is a slight rhythm in the hands in an open setup that gets good extension through the zone. He also came in late for the final two outs to close out the game to secure the win. The fastball was up to 84 that he paired with a low seventies curveball. He brings a high motor and versatility to the game that makes him a valuable piece of this team.

Spotsylvania

Landen Fisher SS / RHP / SPOTSYLVANIA HIGH, VA / 2027

Fisher was part of the rally early, where he sent a ground ball back up the middle and hustled to second for a double that brought in two runs early. It is a wiry frame with room to fill that has some twitch in the hands at the plate. He showed patience and a good feel for the zone in his at-bats. In pre-game he showed some arm strength on throws that had some carry. It is a corner outfield profile that has doubles power working gap to gap.

Joshua Perez RHP / 1B / Spotyslvania, VA / 2026

Perez was spectacular in his start on Thursday night. He threw four scoreless innings, picking up eleven strikeouts and not allowing a hit. The fastball was up to 91, sitting 88-90 with command to the glove side. The fastball worked low in the zone, with the majority of misses being low as well. He had the slider working all night at 73-75, which gave hitters fits, with a lot of swing and miss in and out of the zone. The slider is a true weapon that can be used to get ahead in counts as well as a wipeout pitcher later in counts. Perez didn’t have to use much of his other secondary because the fastball and slider were that overpowering. The arsenal that he has gives him a chance to dominate opposing offenses, and that was the case on Thursday.

Union

Liam Skeen RHP / SS / Union, VA / 2028

It was a brief and up-and-down outing in my first in-game look at Skeen, but there were still some flashes of upside from the young arm. He had to maneuver through some traffic early in his outing with some free passes and some defensive miscues. He got behind in counts early, and had to fight back to get the counts even. It is a short, quick arm from a three-fourths slot with intent. While the fastball command was down, it did have some late life through the zone at 85-88. He showed confidence in the slider that was 76-79 that he could land in any count. He did flash the changeup to left-handed hitters that had some late fade in the upper seventies. While it wasn’t the start that he was looking for, he is the frontline arm for Union, and he does have the stuff to bounce back.
