Mizuno Pitcher & Hitter of the Week (Week 8)

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state

Thank you to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.  

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 8 (Apr 7-Apr 13).

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Bentley Blinka SS / 3B / Victoria East, TX / 2026

The uncommitted Junior put together a dominant Week 8, going a perfect 7-for-7 at the plate over 3 games. Blinka showcased his power and speed with 3 doubles, 2 triples, and drove in 10 RBI while crossing the plate 6 times himself. He also added 2 stolen bases, drew a walk, and was hit by a pitch, reaching base in every plate appearance. Blinka continues to have a solid Jr season.

 

 

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Jordan Andrews 1B / LHP / Liberty Hill, TX / 2026

Andrews was lights out in Week 8, tossing a 7-inning complete game no-hitter to lead his squad to a 1-0 victory. The right-hander was in full command, racking up 11 strikeouts while allowing just 3 walks. The uncommitted Jr. was untouchable all game, showcasing poise and dominance on the mound in a pressure-packed outing. He also helped his own cause at the plate with an RBI double in the top of the 7th, providing the only run he needed to secure the win.
