Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 9 of the 2025 spring season. 

 

MIZUNO PLAYER OF THE WEEK

John Austin Wood C / 3B / Itawamba Agricultural, MS / 2025 Wood, a North Alabama recruit, takes the Player of the Week honor after an an impressive week that saw him pick up 9 hits in 12 at bats which included 3 home runs and 11 runs batted in.

 

MIZUNO PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Cooper Waddle LHP / OF / Itawamba , MS / 2025 The Southern Miss recruit had another outstanding start for the Indians that earned him our Pitcher of the Week honor. Waddle threw a 7 inning shutout over Amory, allowing just 1 hit, with 17 strikeouts.
