The Mississippi Diamond Notes is back for 2025 and will focus on highlighting some top performances across the state based on nominations from high school coaches. We will highlight those positions players, pitchers and two-way players every Wednesday of the high school season that are deserving to be highlighted based on their performance.

MISSISSIPPI DIAMOND NOTES: WEEK 8

Logan Buckley LHP / 1B / COLUMBIA ACADEMY, MS / 2026 Buckley threw 6 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 earned run, with 13 strikeouts in a win over Silliman Institute.

Brody Thompson SS / RHP / MOOREVILLE HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2025 Thompson threw 7 innings, allowing 5 hits, 0 earned runs, with 10 strikeouts in a win over North Pontotoc. He also went 7 for 13 at the plate with 3 home runs, a triple, and 8 runs batted in.

Adam Clower RHP / 1B / Ocean Springs, MS / 2026 The PRCC recruit threw 7 2/3 innings over 2 appearances, allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs, with 6 strikeouts In 2 wins over Harrison Central.

Jack Jordan SS / 3B / Ocean Springs, MS / 2025 The Jones College recruit threw 6 innIngs, allowing 4 hits, 0 earned runs, with 4 strikeouts in a win over Harrison Central.

Tristan Fox RHP / 3B / Ocean Springs, MS / 2026 Fox threw 5 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, with 7 strikeouts in a win over Harrison Central.

Jon Grey Morrisson 3B / RHP / WEST UNION ATTENDANCE CENTER, MS / 2026 Morrisson earned our Pitcher of the Week honor after he threw a complete game no hitter with 13 strikeouts (1 walk) in a win over Smithville.

Maddox Miller LHP / 1B / Oak Grove, MS / 2025 The Mississippi State signee threw 7 innings, allowing 4 hits, 1 run, with 13 strikeouts in win over Northwest Rankin.

Dane McElroy RHP / SS / VANCLEAVE HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2026 McElroy threw 7 innings, allowing 6 hits, 3 runs, with 7 strikeouts in a win over Wayne County.

Drew Davis RHP / SS / Sumrall, MS / 2027 Davis threw 7 innings, allowing 2 hits, 0 runs, with 11 strikeouts in a win over Forest County. He also went 6 for 11 with 2 home runs, 3 stolen bases, and 8 runs batted in

Leo Odom RHP / 1B / Sumrall, MS / 2025 Odom, and Ole Miss signee, threw 5 innings, allowing 1 hit, 0 runs, with 7 strikeouts in a win over West Marion. He also went 5 for 8 with 2 home runs, a triple, and 4 runs batted in.

Myles Self OF / LHP / Hamilton, MS / 2026 The East Mississippi CC recruit went 3 for 6 with 2 home runs, a double, and 5 runs batted in.

Colin Flurry C / 3B / BOONEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2025 The Northeast MS CC recruit went 4 for 10 on the week with 4 home runs and 7 runs batted in. Also threw out 2 runners attempting to steal.

Trey Myers SS / OF / Mize, MS / 2026 The Pearl River CC recruit went 6 for 9 with 2 home runs, 2 doubles, 5 runs scored, and 8 runs batted in.

Trent Buckley RHP / 1B / Columbia Academy, MS / 2027 Buckley went 5 for 10 with 3 home runs, a double, and 6 runs batted in. Buckley also threw 5 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run, with 10 strikeouts in a win over Silliman Institute.

Mac McDaniel OF / Oak Grove, MS / 2026 McDaniel went 4 for 8 with 3 doubles, a triple, and 6 runs batted in.

Chase Sones SS / RHP / Poplarville , MS / 2027 Sones went 6 for 8 with 5 runs batted in on the week for the Hornets.

Hunter Harper 1B / Vancleave High School, MS / 2025 Harper went 5 for 12 with a double on the week for the Bulldogs.

Martin Shaw OF / Vancleave High School, MS / 2025 Shaw went 7 for 11 last week with a home run and 7 runs batted in.

Ethan Barnes C / SS / Magnolia Heights, MS / 2025 The Liberty recruit was named our Player of the Week after going 7 for 9 with 2 home runs, 4 doubles, and 11 runs batted in last week.

Cole Prosek SS / 2B / Magnolia Heights, MS / 2026 The Ole Miss recruit went 6 for 10 with 4 home runs, 4 stolen bases, and 4 runs batted in.

Quincy Pratt C / SS / Magnolia Heights, MS / 2027 The Ole Miss recruit, went 7 for 8 with 2 home runs, 2 doubles, and 7 runs batted in.

Cooper Waddle LHP / OF / Itawamba , MS / 2025 The Southern Miss recruit went 8 for 11 with a home run, a triple, a double, and 5 runs batted in. Waddle also threw 7 innings, allowing 2 hits, 2 runs, with 13 strikeouts in a win over Tupelo.

John Austin Wood C / 3B / Itawamba Agricultural, MS / 2025 The North Alabama recruit went 4 for 6 with 2 home runs, 5 walks, and 5 runs batted in.

Ty Jones 2B / RHP / North Pike, MS / 2025 Jones went 7 for 12 with 2 home runs, a triple, 2 doubles, 3 stolen bases, and 6 runs batted in. Jones also threw 4 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts.

Cash Myrick OF / 1B / Saint Andrews Episcopal, MS / 2027 Myrick went 7 for 11 with 2 home runs, 4 doubles, 7 runs scored, and 11 runs batted in.

John William Walker SS / OF / St. Andrew's, MS / 2026 Walker went 9 for 12 with a double, 8 runs scored, and 7 runs batted in.

Stone Myrick 1B / OF / St. Andrews Episcopal , MS / 2025 Myrick went 6 for 10 with 2 doubles, 6 runs scored, and 7 runs batted in. He also threw 4 shutout innings, allowing hits, with 9 strikeouts in a win over Pelahatchie.

Cannon Hensarling RHP / 3B / OCEAN SPRINGS HIGH SCHOOL, MS / 2025 The Nichols State recruit hit .500 for the week with 3 runs, 3 stolen bases, 3 walks, and 3 runs batted in.

AJ Rossi OF / RHP / ocean springs high school, MS / 2026 Rossi went 4 for 8 with 2 doubles and 4 runs batted in on the week for the Greyhounds.

Carter Doze RHP / Vancleave, MS / 2025 Doze threw 6 innings, allowing 2 hits, 0 runs, with 6 strikeouts in a win over Wayne County.

Garrison Carrell SS / Mize, MS / 2027 Carrell went 6 for 11 on the week with a home run, and 5 runs batted in for the Bulldogs.

Kyle Capers OF / Vancleave, MS / 2026 Capers went 5 for 9 with a double and 2 runs batted in on the week for the Bulldogs.

Easton Giger SS / Petal, MS / 2026 Giger went 5 for 6 on the week with 3 doubles, 2 triples, 6 runs, and 9 runs batted in on the week for the Panthers.

Tylan Keys OF / Poplarville, MS / 2027 Keys went 4 for 7 with 7 runs scored and 6 stolen bases. Keyes also threw 5 innings, allowing 1 hit, 1 run, with 7 strikeouts in a win over Moss Point.
