2025 WA Scout Blog - Camas, Union, Olympia, Graham Kapowsin
April 25, 2025
The 2025 Washington Scout Blog provides information and scouting notes from Prep Baseball staff during the WIAA sesason. The running blog will feature information on underclass prospects, unsigned seniors, draft prospects and other notable performers. The Scout Blog is compiled of content and information gathered only from Prep Baseball staff. All featured games in the Scout Blog were attended by staff.
This week, Prep Baseball attended multiple games across Washington, where several high-caliber prospects were on display. Many players showed out well, highlighted by a combined no-hitter at the second game attended. Below are scouting notes on some of those standout performances.
Camas vs. Union (4.21.25)
Camas
'25 RHP Christian Scanlon (Uncommitted)
Senior came in relief and shut down the Union offense, and was a big reason Camas was able to hang on and secure the victory. Changed speeds with a FB in the upper 70's with some sink and a big breaker. Clean, longer arm action with a 3/4 slot release. Filled up the zone and induced soft contact. Final line: 3.1 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K.
'25 OF Anthony Forner (Uncommitted)
Lefty with some speed and twitch had his fingerprints all over this game, finishing 2-3, R, RBI, BB, SB. Short, bat-to-ball approach at the plate with abbreviated finish leading to quick first step out of the box. Made every play in RF defensively with speed to stick in any of the three OF spots. Singled and scored a run early, then came through with the biggest AB of the afternoon, drawing a bases loaded walk in the 7th to walk it off.

'26 C Hayden Ollmann (Uncommitted)
Another Papermaker position player with athleticism, Ollmann had a nice showing from the catcher position, moving well and framing borderline pitches for strikes. Got to a tough starter early, barreling a breaking ball in the middle of the plate to drive in the first run of the contest. Reached base twice overall on the afternoon. Uncommitted catcher to circle.

'26 INF Cade Lukens (Uncommitted)
One of the most impressive pregame showings seen this spring defensively with quick, confident actions at SS. Had an errant throw in-game but still looked the part up the middle. Offensively, showcased a stronger frame with a flatter barrel path through the zone. Finished 1-3 with a walk from the leadoff spot. 6'0 athlete was first-team GSHL last year and will be a key piece for Camas down the stretch.
Union
'27 RHP Rylan Howe (Uncommitted)
The new number one ranked player in the Washington 2027 class, Howe looked the part of the next impact arm to come out of the PNW. The righty built on a breakout showing in the preseason in which he was up to 91 MPH with the FB. In this look, the FB sat 84-88 MPH, and despite fading in velocity as the game progressed still had plenty of life. 6'4 frame moved well down the mound, showing trust in his slider in all counts as his main secondary. Occasional cutter and splitter rounded out the arsenal. An impressive combination of size, fluidity, velocity and ability to fill up the strike zone warranted the bump up the rankings list for the sophomore. Final line on Monday: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, BB, 10 K.

'25 INF Mason Bluestein (Uncommitted)
Senior first baseman had one of two hits on what was a quiet offensive afternoon for the Titans. Long-limbed, lean frame presents a large target at 1B and made the routine play defensively. Keeps long levers tighter to frame through swing path. Short stride load, extends through contact with shorter two-handed finish. Finished 1-3 with a run scored.
Olympia
'25 RHP/INF Trace Pruitt (Washington Commit)
Top-ten ranked senior in the state cruised through two innings on the mound before exiting early, but still looked the part of a premier talent in the class. Mostly attacked with the FB, but broke out a plus slider when ahead in counts. Sinks into lower half and explodes through release with slight arm recoil on follow. Final line of 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K on Wednesday.
'27 RHP Peyton Crass (Uncommitted)
The sophomore was incredible in 5 innings of relief, shutting down GK's offense in a real pitcher's duel on Wednesday. Some deception created with a low-slot release that gave a ton of life to the FB up in the zone. Heater sat 82-85 throughout, paired with a big 12/6 curveball at 67-69 MPH. Crass has been leaned upon as one of the main arms for the Bears this spring, and Wednesday was the best outing of the season for the medium framed righty. Final line: 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 10 K as the second part of a combined no-hitter.

Low release height with some deception gave FB real life up in the zone. Repeatable, balanced delivery. Final line: 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 10 K pic.twitter.com/XlCht9EN3Q
'26 INF Rylan Holmberg (Uncommitted)
Olympia had just one hit until the 7th inning, but Holmberg got the offense going with a leadoff single and scored the walkoff run for the Bears. Some physicality present in 6'0 frame. Whippy bat path through the zone from the RH side. Went 1-2 with a BB on what was a tough afternoon for offense. Developing arm strength defensively but made a couple of nice stops at 2B.
'25 C Silas Duerre (Uncommitted)
Really strong defensive performance from the senior backstop, working upward and sticking frames to steal strikes and make pitches look closer all game long. 5'9 frame had minimal wasted movement when receiving. Provided the biggest hit of the game with a walkoff single in the 7th, doing a great job fouling off some tough pitches and shortening up late in the count to find a hole. Clutch performance.
FINAL: Olympia 1, Graham Kapowsin 0#uncommitted '25 C Silas Duerre (@BaseballOlympia) is the hero, finding a hole through the left side to plate the lone run of the game

Graham Kapowsin
'25 RHP Cohen Sunich (Columbia Basin Commit)
Sunich was fantastic in what was a great pitchers' duel on Wednesday, throwing 6 scoreless frames to match the Olympia arms. FB sat 83-86 MPH throughout with a CB at 74-76 MPH as the main secondary. Mostly attacked with the FB, and though the control had some lapses at times, Sunich was still able to put up zeros. Up tempo delivery with quick pace in between pitches kept the senior in control. Final line: 6 IP, H, 0 R, 3 BB, 8 K in an outstanding effort.

'25 C Tanner McVey (Scottsdale CC Commit)
Senior put the best swing of the day for GK on a fastball, sending it to the deepest part of the yard for a flyout late in the game. Physical presence at the plate with plus bat speed, accelerates through contact with an aggressive two-handed finish. Managed the game well behind the plate defensively, presenting a clear, large target and blocking/framing well. Impact player despite quiet day in this look.
