Prep Baseball Missouri Staff

As the spring season progresses, the Prep Baseball Missouri staff has updated the state’s 2027 rankings once again. This is one of our most significant updates yet, following an action-packed preseason showcase season. We evaluated over 250 talented sophomores, expanding our list from 115 to 175 players, with more than 70 new names added.

It's important to note that with an update of this size, some players may see a decline in their overall rank, despite improving and surpassing some peers, simply due to the addition of so many new names. For a deeper understanding of how we compile our rankings, click HERE.

THE TOP TEN

After a preseason packed with action, a new No. 1 has emerged at the top of our rankings, with INF/RHP Brady Yates (Glendale) claiming the top spot. Standing at 6-foot-2, 202 pounds, the ultra-physical Super Sophomore Games alum made an immediate impact at Glendale as a freshman last spring, since solidifying his status as a must-see two-way prospect in the 2027 class, delivering standout performances at the A’s Scout Day and Missouri Preseason All-State events this winter. Yates has added polish to his already powerful right-handed swing, consistently posting triple-digit exit velocities with elite bat speed and the potential for middle-of-the-order power at the next level. On the mound, he’s reached 89 mph with his fastball, showcasing impressive feel for a strong curveball and changeup mix. With a 6.95 60-yard dash and a 93 mph arm in the infield to boot, Yates is undeniably a must see prospect that continues to get better with every look.

RHP/1B Ryan Dobratz (Liberty-Wentzville) leaps 11 spots to No. 2 in our rankings following a standout performance on the mound at the Missouri Preseason All-State. Standing at 6-foot-4, 222 pounds, Dobratz presents an imposing presence on the mound and boasts as much raw power and upside as any pitcher in the class. His lively fastball, reaching up to 90 mph, is complemented by a low-to-mid 70s curveball and a mid-70s changeup with arm side fade.

C Carson Leuthauser (Eureka) claims the No. 6 spot, followed by RHP/1B Brandon Ott (De Smet Jesuit) at No. 7, INF Max Partney (Hillsboro) at No. 8, C Andrew Maultsby (Staley) at No. 9, and INF/RHP Cameron Miller (Nixa) rounding out the top ten at No. 10.

RISERS AND NEWCOMERS

Rising nine spots to No. 11 in this update, OF/RHP Warren Robertson (Rockhurst) continues to impress our staff with every outing. He turned heads at the MOKAN Preseason All-State in February, posting an impressive 101 mph exit velocity and a 90 mph arm in the outfield while also having been up to 86 mph on the mound. With his athleticism and lean 6-foot-3, 194-pound frame, Robertson boasts one of the highest ceilings in the class.
