Prep Baseball Alabama Staff

The Alabama Diamond Notes will showcase standout performances from across the state, based on nominations from high school coaches. Each Wednesday throughout the high school season, we will recognize position players, pitchers, and two-way players who delivered impressive performances during their team's games. A special thank you to the many coaches who submitted nominations this week. The following stats reflect games played from March 31st - Aprll 5th.

Tee Foster SS / 2B / Madison Academy, AL / 2025

The Montevallo recruit was 8-12 (.667) last week as the 5A No. 3 Mustangs pushed their record to 24-6. Foster collected four doubles and drove in seven runs while playing stellar defense at shortstop.

Matt Salmon SS / RHP / Jacksonville, AL / 2026

The uncommitted junior was 6-11 (.545) last week with three runs driven in and four runs scored. Salmon also tossed 7.1 innings on the mound as he went 1-0 with a save. He did not allow a run and struck out 11 opposing hitters. 

Evan Brazelton OF / OF / Arab , AL / 2025

Brazelton, an uncommitted senior, was 7-11 (.636) last week as the Knights improved to 16-9. He had a home run and two doubles while driving in four runs. The outfielder also scored three runs and stole two bases. 

Luke Hudson 3B / OF / Arab, AL / 2026

An uncommitted junior outfielder, Hudson hit an even .500 (5-10) a week ago as the Knights wrapped up a playoff spot for the 12th consecutive season. He had three doubles and drove in four runs while also scoring four times as well. 

Alex Brewer 1B / RHP / Southside, AL / 2026

An uncommitted junior, Brewer was 7-13 (.538) a week ago as the Panthers have gotten out to a 20-9 start this season. He finished the week with an OBP of .625. 

Kolt Johnson C / Southside, AL / 2028

The freshman catcher was 4-8 (.500) last week with two doubles and two runs driven in. Johnson finished the week with an OBP of. 636. 

Layne Nicholson SS / 2B / Oneonta, AL / 2027

The sophomore middle infielder was 7-14 (.500) last week for the Redskins, including two triples and a double. Nicholson drove in seven runs and also scored seven times.

Ty Butts SS / Oneonta, AL / 2028

The freshman shortstop was 7-14 (.500) last week with four doubles. Butts drove in six runs while also scoring six times as the Redskins went 5-0 for the week.

Jace Duckett LHP / OF / Madison County, AL / 2027

A week after winning Mizuno Player of the Week, Duckett continued to swing the bat at a high level as he went 4-6 (.667) with a double and two home runs. He also drove in six runs, walked two times and swiped four bases. 

Cole Spanier 3B / RHP / Bob Jones, AL / 2026

Spanier, an uncommitted junior, had a phenomenal week for the 7A No. 3 Patriots last week as he hit .800 (8-10) with three home runs and two doubles. He scored six times and also drove in nine runs. 

Tanner Hermesch RHP / 3B / Bob Jones, AL / 2025

The Shelton State CC recruit was 1-0 last week with a five inning complete game area win. Hermesch allowed one run on three hits and did not walk anyone while striking out ten. Offensively, he added two home runs during the week. 

Hudson Smith C / SS / James Clemens, AL / 2027

Smith, a sophomore, went 4-8 (.500) last week with two doubles and a run driven in. He walked three times and scored four runs while swiping three bases.  

Trip Morgan 1B / 3B / James Clemens High School, AL / 2025

Morgan, an uncommitted senior infielder, hit .400 (4-10) last week with two doubles and a home run as the Jets swept their first area series of the year. He drove in six runs and scored once while walking twice.  

Brady Cole Harrison OF / SS / Elberta, AL / 2025

The Chattahoochee Valley CC recruit tossed a complete game (7 IP) in a key area game for Elberta. He scattered three hits and did not allow a run in the 1-0 Game 1 victory over UMS-Wright. He struck out nine and walked one. For the year, Harrison is 7-1 (49 IP) with a 0.51 ERA. 

Jack Doyle RHP / OF / Madison Academy, AL / 2025

Doyle, a UAH recruit, was 1-0 last week for the 5A No. 3 Mustangs as he got the win on the mound against James Clemens. He tossed six innings of no-hit baseball and did not give up a run while striking out 12. 

Caiden Combs 1B / 3B / Gardendale, AL / 2025

The Auburn recruit was 1-0 last week with a complete game (7 IP) win against 6A No. 8 Homewood. He scattered six hits and walked one while giving up only one run. Combs also struck out 12. 

Kooper Rogers RHP / , AL / 2028

A freshman, Rogers turned in a complete game (7 IP) outing in an area game against Sylvania. He scattered six hits and allowed two earned runs while getting the win. He walked only three and struck out 12.  

Wesley Holland RHP / 3B / Arab, AL / 2027

Holland, a sophomore right hander, turned in a complete game (7 IP) performance to help the Knights clinch a playoff spot last week. He allowed one run on only two hits over 72 pitches as he did not walk anyone and struck out six. 

Luke Martin 1B / RHP / Arab, AL / 2026

The uncommitted junior went 1-0 last week as he turned in a complete game (7 IP) effort in the Knights Game 1 win against Brewer. He allowed one hit and did not allow an earned run. Martin struck out six and did not walk anyone. 

Brady Richardson SS / RHP / Enterprise, AL / 2025

Richardson's dominance on the mound continued last week as he went 1-0 with a complete-game (7 IP) shutout win over Mosley (FL). The Troy recruit allowed one hit and struck out nine. Over his last two outings (14 IP), he has allowed a total of one hit and has not given up a run. 

Matthew Drinkwater 3B / RHP / James Clemens, AL / 2026

Drinkwater, an uncommitted junior, continues to star in a two-way role for the Jets as last week he turned in a complete game (7 IP) win in the first game of their area series against Florence. He allowed two hits and one earned to go with six strikeouts as opposing hitters only hit .087 against him.
