Staff

The 2025 GHSA State Playoffs kick off on Wednesday. Playoff baseball in Georgia is some of the best baseball in the entire country and we are lucky enough to get to cover it. We have covered the state of Georgia from as south as Lowndes to as north as Gordon Lee and everything in between. Our staff has watched over 200 baseball games this year and can’t wait to cover playoff baseball.

To kick off the season we highlighted over 80 teams in our “Team Preview” articles if you want to check out any of those before the playoffs they can be found HERE.

Private Playoffs

In this new format of 32 teams we see some key players that will have to play each other early in the playoffs. There are region match ups scatted across the bracket, so teams will know what is to come in some of those big match ups. Here are some key 1st round games we are keeping an eye on:

Weber School vs Kings Ridge
Whitefield vs Paideia
Landmark Christian vs Trinity Christian
Fellowship Christian vs Walker
Mt. Vernon vs Hebron

King’s Ridge Christian Tigers Outlook (19-8, 8-5)

The Tigers come into the playoffs with one of the deepest lineups in the entire Private bracket with a mix of upperclass and underclass talent. The engine of the offense is 2024 Future Gamer and backstop, Chip Glogorski with enormous juice in the bat and a real feel to hit as well. Junior OF Marcus Ward sets the tone atop the order with innate bat-to-ball and present above-average speed. A pair of seniors consisting of IF/RHP Hudson Spencer (West Florida) and uncommitted OF Landon Comer provide consistent and reliable bats that can stick anywhere in the order. Spencer also anchors a spot in the rotation as a mid to upper 80s arm. Lee Holt and Taylor Markakis are two top-ranked sophomores in the ‘27 state class as they provide stability in the heart of the lineup and could push the Tigers over the hump. Holt, an upper 80s arm, is a vital piece to the staff whether starting or out of the pen. Junior two-way Hudson Phillips is primed to pitch big-time innings as an upper 80s arm as well as issuing depth and consistency to the offense. Juniors Drake Jacobi, Max Cudzey, and sophomore Luke Wein could work their way in the lineup and see valuable time in the playoffs. This is an offense that can compete with anyone when all the pieces are clicking.

Uncommitted Upperclassmen to Watch
Chip Glogorski, C/1B, 2026
Marcus Ward, OF, 2026
Hudson Phillips, IF/RHP, 2026
Drake Jacobi, 2B/OF, 2026
Max Cudzey, OF, 2026

Fellowship Christian Outlook (19-6, 9-4)

Coach Oliver and the Paladins are young, but battle tested in a tough region and playing quality out of region opponents. They come in as the 11 seed and look to make a run with a potential region opponent in Wesleyan in the 2nd round. Fellowship has the depth to become favorites in these 3 game series. There are really 6 key arms that they can go to at any time. They will have experienced upperclassmen in Jack Dart and Lawson Ivey then a cast of young talent with Will Bracken, James Sharp and Luke Stefl. These arms throw strikes and let the potent line up score the runs for a lethal combo come playoff time. 4 of their everyday guys in the line up are hitting over .300 on the year. The trio at the top is one of the best in the state with Reid Harke, Jake Brannon and Lawson Ivey. Then they have upper class leaders in Tristan Costoulas and Mack Town that could get hot at any time. Then throw a guy like Walker Waggoner at the bottom of the order hitting, .327 and they have a recipe for success. Not to mention James Sharp, who only has 5 strikeouts on the year and continues to perform. Keep an eye on a guy like Eli Latora, to see some big AB’s who has started about half the games and hitting .333 on the year.
