Each week, our staff updated the Power 25 and provides key talking points from games the week prior. This week, we see a new No. 1 for the first time this spring, inlcuding a plethora of movement inside the Top 25.

Talking Points

  • Calvert Hall takes over No. 1: We see a new number 1 for the first time in 2025, as Calvert Hall handed Spalding their first series loss of the season after dropping game 1 by two runs, then taking the last two with a 8-3 win and a 7-6 win.
  • Georgetown Prep keeps rolling: After starting the season 5-5, the Hoyas have rolled off 8 straight wins including a sweep over St. Albans during that span and another 3-0 week last week
  • Broadneck dominance in out-of-conference play last week: 3-0 week over spring break with wins over La Plata, Parkside, and Montgomery Blair
  • Stephen Decatur has rolled off 11 straight wins: After starting the season 2-1, the Seahawks have been on a roll and a win over Sherwood over Spring Break sees Decatur as one of the hottest teams across Maryland as we enter the 2nd half of the season.
  • Urbana big wins in conference: Urbana took down a tough Tuscarora team and one of the hottest teams across the CMC to start the season in North Hagerstown over spring break, leading to a 4-0 week and a jump up to No. 12 in the Power 25.

Winners

  • Huntingtown makes a jump in the rankings up to No. 17 after a 4-0 week with wins over North Point, Patuxent, Severna Park, and St. Mary’s Ryken
  • Landon makes their first appearance in the rankings at No. 19 after another undefeated week that sits the Bears at 14-6.
  • Chesapeake-AA jumps back in the rankings after big wins over Leonardtown and La Plata and now sit at No. 22 in the Power 25.
  • River Hill sees their first appearance in the Power 25 at No. 24 after an 11-2 start to the season

Seeking Improvement

  • Good Counsel dropped two more games last week to St. John’s and Landon and see themselves on the outside looking into the Power 25.
  • Northeast drops five spots in the Power 25 after a 1-2 spring break week.
