+ RHP Lane Sharp (Columbia Central, 2025) Few pitchers in Tennessee's 2024 class have matched the consistency and impact of Lane Sharp over the course of his high school career. The senior right-hander from Columbia Central High School has been a staple on the mound, earning a reputation as one of the state’s most dependable and competitive arms. A future Walters State Senator, Sharp has all the traits you look for in a durable, high-upside college starter — fastball velocity, breaking ball feel, and a bulldog mentality every time he toes the rubber. Sharp set the tone early in his latest outing, sitting 91 mph over the first three innings and touching 93 mph with life through the zone. As he worked deeper into the game, the fastball settled into the 88-89 mph range, maintaining enough life to continue challenging hitters effectively. His fastball plays up thanks to clean arm action and natural downhill plane from a sturdy frame. Sharp flashed a big, sweeping breaking ball at 74-77 mph with heavy lateral action and an impressive tunnel out of the hand. The pitch offers a tough look for hitters, especially RHH, who have difficulty picking it up early. Sharp showed the ability to land it for strikes and expand it to the glove side when ahead in the count. Sharp heads to Walters State, one of the premier JUCO programs in the nation, with a chance to step in and contribute early. His pitchability, velocity, and mound presence give him starter traits at the next level, and continued development — especially refining his breaking ball and possibly adding a usable changeup — could make him a future professional prospect. He would go complete game with only 2 hits given up with 18 K’s to just 3 walks.
