Ontario Future Games Trials II: Quick Hits II
April 21, 2025
On Friday, April 18th, the Prep Baseball Ontario staff hosted it's third of five Future Games Trials with the Ontario Future Games Trials II hosted at The Athlete's Turf, home of the Ontario Blue Jays, in Mississauga, Ontario.
This event featured roughly 80 prospects in the 2026 - 2028 classes and it was another strong group of players, both on the positional and pitching side, competing for a spot on one of Canada's two teams heading to the Future Games in late July... The Canadian Future Games team (2027/2028 prospects) and Canada's Senior Future Games team (2026 prospects). Players attending Future Games Trials events also qualify to be selected for other marquee events including the New York State Games (NY), NorthEast Senior Games (NY), West Coast Games (CA), Super Sophomore Games (OH) and more.
All player ran through a full workout that included batting practice and bullpens captured on our TrackMan, as well as 30-yard springs captured by VALD Performance and positional metrics.. Over the next several days we'll be highlighting top performers from the event within our post-event analysis. Stay locked into our social media channels over the next several days as we continue to push out video, leaderboards and more.
Earlier this week, we broke down the top measurable data performers from the event with our Statistical Analysis, Pitching Data Dive and Positional Data Dive and Quick Hits I articles. ‘27 RHP/OF Aidan Cochran (Terriers Baseball): ‘27 RHP/OF Aidan Cochran has emerged as a standout arm in the class and comes at you from a tough angle with a low-¾ arm-slot. 6-foot-1, 170-pound right-hander with some maturation/growth to come and the fastball sat in the 84-86mph range. Worked with a short, tight slider at 73-76mph (3.8” IVB/-0.8” HM) and changeup at 75-76mph. Still has some development to come but it’s a tough at-bat for right-handed hitters and Cochran is an arm to know in Ontario’s 2027 class. On the positional side, Cochran generated a peak exit velocity of 89.7mph and ran a 4.16 30-yard dash.

Cochran is an arm to watch in the 2027 class, topping out at 86.2 mph this weekend. A name college coaches will want to follow as he continues to mature.

‘26 INF/RHP Logan Dawe (London Badgers/Uncommitted): ‘26 INF/RHP Logan Dawe is an uncommitted two-way out of the London Badgers program who looks ready for a strong summer season and has potential on both sides of the ball. There’s some arm strength on the mound with a fastball that sat 83-85mph and paired it with a breaking ball at 71-73mph and changeup at 74-75mph. On the positional side, Dawe posted a peak exit velocity of 93.4mph, peak distance of 288ft, infield velocity of 86mph and ran a 4.21 30-yard dash. Dawe will be a player to watch this summer in the Badgers program and has put together a strong winter/spring so far.
‘27 1B/RHP Ben Laughlin (Ottawa Nepean Canadians): ‘27 1B/RHP Ben Laughlin immediately caught our staff’s attention with his sheer size at 6-foot-7, 220-pounds. The big right-handed hitter has some big-time impact when he’s able to find the barrel and will be an interesting follow as he continues to develop. The Ottawa Nepean Canadians product generated a peak exit velocity of 95.6mph (87.9 avg), peak distance of 341ft and Hard-Hit% of 55%. Laughlin also ran a 4.17 30-yard dash and was up to 77mph on the infield. Overall, his game is still raw but there’s tons of potential and upside here going forward.
‘26 1B/LHP Calum Rees (Etobicoke Rangers/Uncommitted): ‘26 1B/LHP Callum Rees is a two-way out of the Etobicoke Rangers program who continues to put together a strong winter/spring. Length in the frame at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds and the right-handed hitter put together some loud swings during BP with a Hard-Hit% of 50% (batted balls at 90+ mph). Rees posted the top exit velocities at the event, 97.6mph (88.2mph avg), and also had a max distance of 302ft. The Etobicoke Rangers product also possesses upside on the mound as a left-hander pitcher where he moves well, fills up the zone and should have more velocity coming. Rees sat 79-81mph, along with a curveball at 66-69mph and changeup at 70-72mph.

‘26 MIF Ethan Thompson (Sudbury Voyageurs/Uncommitted): ‘26 Ethan Thompson is a middle infielder out of the Sudbury Voyageurs program who has really jumped onto the map this spring and will be a name to know for college programs in the Sudbury area. Undersized stature right now at 5-foot-7, 135-pounds but generates bat speed that allows the left-handed hitter to put up some quality offensive numbers. Thompson has the ability to work to all fields and generated a max exit velocity of 96.2mph (89 avg), max distance of 333ft, Hard-Hit% of 70% and Sweet Spot % of 80%. Beyond the offensive numbers, Thompson flashed some arm strength on the infield with 86mph throws and closed out his day running a 4.02 30-yard dash. Another good showing from Thompson to open up his 2025 campaign.
‘26 2B/OF Eric Yoon (Markham Mariners/Uncommitted): ‘26 2B/OF Eric Yoon was a standout from the Markham Mariners as he put together two of the more consistent rounds of BP on the day. Smaller stature with some strength at 5-foot-7, 175-pounds and it’s a short right-handed stroke that generated a peak exit velocity of 97.4mph (89.7 avg), peak distance of 335ft and Hard-Hit% of 77%. Yoon was also up to 79mph on the infield and ran a 3.93 30-yard dash. Yoon has developed well over the past six months and there looks to be more on the horizon.

‘27 SS/RHP Cole Zwarich (Ontario Blue Jays): ‘27 SS/RHP Cole Zwarich continues to flash some added impact in the right-handed bat and put together one of the best rounds of BP at the event among 2027 grads. Has added some strength, now standing at 6-foot-1, 187-pounds and it’s the offensive capabilities that make the biggest impact right now. Zwarich posted a peak exit velocity of 97.2mph (90.1 avg), peak distance of 372ft, Hard-Hit% of 80% and Sweet Spot % of 67%. The OBJ two-way also ran a 4.17 30-yard dash and was up to 81mph on the infield. On the mound, the right-hander sat 80-81 T82 and partnered it with a curveball at 68-71mph and changeup at 71-72mph.
