Staff

The Georgia Scout Blog will be a weekly blog with reports and videos from the players and teams that we go out to cover each week. The blog will remain for the length of the week with notes being added the day following from each game. At the end of the week we will update the POWER 25 and CLASSIFICATION RANKINGS, then at the beginning of the following week we will announce Player of the Week awards, along with our Diamond Notes, which is a culmination of all players that were not selected for player of the week.

Week of March 31st

Monday

Luc Oates, LHP/1B, Pinewood Christian, 2027
Oates was a player that we 1st got to see at the beginning of the summer in 2024 and he really made a strong 1st impression. He had a couple home runs at one of the bigger parks in the state and showcased a smooth left handed swing at the dish. He went on to have a strong summer both at the plate and on the mound. We made the trip south to see him against a couple really strong arms, but the game got short due to rain, but Oates would make the trip with it with a no doubt, solo home run, the 2nd pitch of the game. He seems to always be on time with feel for the barrel and some serious power to the pull side. He also started the game on the mound and was up to 84 with heavy arm side run and a change up and slider to go with it. Oates is going to be on to keep an eye on as we head into the summer with the recruiting window opening August 1.

Tuesday

Grant Barden, RHP, East Forsyth, 2027
Barden has been a strong performer over the years with natural arm strength and athleticism throughout his game. He has recently stepped into the game 1 role for East Forsyth and has played a huge role. He has really matured on the mound both with his ability and his composure. He escaped some trouble early after a bases loaded, 1 out situation with 2 huge strikeouts. He would then find his groove and go on to throw a complete game, shut out. The fastball was 87-90 all game, and the velo holding was the most impressive part of the outing. He was still grabbing 88’s and 89’s in the 7th. He mixed in his big 12-6 curveball at 76-78 and mixed in the CH occasionally at 78. Barden is going to be a name to know in the sophomore class as a power arm.

Sean Martell, RHP, Walnut Grove, 2027
Martell made an impact when we got to see him earlier in the year vs Eastside. He has been a strong bat at the plate for Walnut Grove and got his 1st start on the mound in a big region match up. He attacked the zone early in the game with a fastball in the low 80’s, topping out at 84. He really only gave up 2 hard hits in 6 innings. The frame is lean and projectable with much more in the tank. Martell is going to be on to keep an eye on both on the mound and at the plate.

Carson Fuchs, 2B, 2025, Oconee County
Toccoa Falls College commit. Fuchs showed extremely well out of the lead-off spot as he would reach base in all four of his plate appearances going 3-for-3 at the plate with a 2B, 2 1B, and a BB. Staying well-connected throughout, Fuchs exhibits great barrel length in-zone with an aptitude to spray the ball to all-fields. As well as holding advanced bat-to-ball skills with tremendous fluidity and some whip present in the barrel. Carrying an abundance of tools at the plate, the LHH bears a keen eye with an advanced understating of the zone. A tough out and a table-setter atop the lineup, Fuchs gets the offense started for the Warriors lineup on a nightly basis.

Bubba Coleman, 3B, 2026, Cherokee Bluff
Uncommitted. Another strong look at one of the top performers in the state over the past few years. Coleman would reach base in all three of his plate appearances going 2-for-2 with a 2B, 1B, HBP, and 2 RBI. His first knock came via a single into left-field for an RBI to get the scoring started early. He would then come through in his second at-bat with a ringing double off the center-field wall for an RBI 2B. The bat speed and barrel feel always stand out with easy leverage to all-fields. Coleman maintains excellent balance throughout the zone with advanced use of his lower half. Coleman powered the offense to a 4-2 victory, moving the Bears to a strong 10-0 record in region play. A consistent performer that always produces on the diamond and a top uncommitted junior in the state.

Isaac Smith, SS, 2025, Oconee County
Uncommitted. The projection is clear to see for Smith standing a stout, physical 6-foot-1, 200-pounds. Late in the game, Smith would come through at the plate and deliver an RBI 2B. As he would explode through the zone and fire an absolute rocket down the line for extra-bases. Staying extremely balanced through the zone, Smith shows great use of a strong lower half and ability to stay through the ball well. With budding impact out front backed by present bat speed and ability to match plane. Uncommitted name to know that could make some noise down the stretch for the Warriors.

Wednesday

Nate Thomas, OF, 2025, Mount Vernon Presbyterian
Uncommitted. Thomas stood out from the jump batting out of the lead-off spot for the Mustangs. An imposing presence at the plate standing a lean, athletic 6-foot-3, 185-pounds. Producing quality PAs all afternoon, Thomas would have nothing to show for it until he would come up in his final at-bat of the night. As he would jump on the first pitch of the at-bat and send a screamer into the LCF gap for a ringing 1B. Staying extremely well-connected and generating huge bat speed at the plate. As well as delivering a well-leveraged barrel through the zone with budding impact out front. Amongst the top uncommitted ‘25s in the state.
