Top Catching Performances

C Luke Fraley (St. Augustine Prep, 2027) - Fraley is an interesting prospect to keep an eye on this summer. Line drive pop up to 89 mph EV with some good catch and throw skills behind the plate. Was up to 77 mph from the chute and flashed a 2.09 pop time.

C Brody Garguilo (Ranney, 2027) - Another guy from this event with good catch and throw ability for their age. Threw 77 mph from behind the plate and showed a 2.05 pop time. Garguilo is certainly a prospect to follow for this summer.

C Brayden Morrison (Union Catholic, 2027) - Super Sophomore Games alum, Morrison continued to prove why he’s one of the top catching prospects in the class. Power combined with solid arm strength from behind the plate, was up to 76 mph at All-State and showed a 96 mph max EV. This will be a big spring/summer for him.

C Ryan Wetmore (Christian Brothers Academy, 2027) - Wetmore is another member of Team NJ at the Super Sophomore Games and has incrementally improved each chance we get to see him. Wiry strong, at 6-foot-1, 186-lbs. he possesses innate timing at the plate and can hold his own behind the dish, too. Flashed a 93 mph EV and was 2.05-2.13 behind the plate.

C Holden Cohn (Millburn, 2027) - Cohn’s catch and throw ability is up there among the top in the class. Explosive out of the crouch and the ball explodes out of his hand to 2B, was up to 76 mph with a 2.02-2.06 pop time, At the plate, he’s consistently on the barrel with line drives into the gaps up to 88 mph EV. Expect Cohn to make a jump as he comes into his own at an always tough Millburn team.

C Fin Czaplinski (Point Pleasant Boro, 2028) - Czaplinski really turned some heads at this event. Left handed hitting catchers are a commodity in this game and Czaplinski showcased the ability to be on the barrel from the left side and a strong arm from behind the plate. Had a max EV of 88 mph and had almost 60% line drives in his round. Defensively was 2.05-2.07 and threw 76 mph from the chute. High follow prospect to keep an eye on as his high school career matures.

C Tore Sprague (Delbarton, 2027) - Sprague has the build of a high level prospect for a catcher at a lanky 6-foot-1 180-pounds. Adding strength will be a big priority for Sprague over the course of the next year or so but he’s an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on. Was up to 85 mph EV from the right side with interesting bat speed.

C Jacob Lilienthal (The Hun School, 2027) - Another left handed hitting catcher, Lilienthal has the barrel awareness and arm strength to be a high level player. One of the top batting practice rounds we saw from the event. Up to 93 mph EV  Also impressed on defense, flashed a sub 2.00 pop time.

C Gavin Franchetti (Gloucester Catholic, 2027) - a member of the Super Sophomore team, Franchetti possesses quick twitch at the plate and behind the dish. Defensively, shows a sub 1.90 pop time, was consistently 1.89-2.05 while throwing 78 mph to second. Offensively he is approaching triple digits for EV, maxed out at 98 mph at this event but will continue to improve this number.

C AJ Infantolino (Don Bosco Prep, 2027) - Infantolino is like the swiss army knife of a team. He can play the middle infield, get behind the dish, and throw some innings on the mound. For now, he seems to be a catcher-first, which is a great spot for him with how well he can catch and throw. Fluid, easy swing through the zone produces some line drive pop. Had a pop time of 2.08-2.18 while throwing 78 mph from behind the dish. In his round of BP, got up to 95 mph EV with an average of 85 mph.
