Each week, the Prep Baseball California staff asks High School coaches from around the state to fill out our Player and Pitcher of the Week questionnaire. We select the awards with the input of these coaches, performances we witnessed and word of mouth. With all of the talent throughout Northern and Southern California, it can be difficult to just pinpoint one pitcher and positional player from NorCal and SoCal each week so our 'Diamond Notes' articles will serve the purpose of highlighting the top performances that were submitted by coaches.

WEEK 10 DIAMOND NOTES

+ Noah Irwin, RHP (Gahr, 2025)

+ Jensen Hirschkorn, 3B/RHP (Kingsburg, 2026)

+ Gus Cooper, LHP (Arcadia, 2025)

Cooper was flawless in a dominant outing against Burroughs, tossing a five-inning no-hitter with five strikeouts. The only baserunner he allowed was erased on a stolen base attempt, allowing him to face the minimum 15 batters in a 10-0 mercy-rule win. Now 6-0 on the season, Cooper has thrown 39 innings with an outstanding 0.36 ERA.

+ Julian Salmon, UTL (Arcadia, 2026)

A standout week at the plate for Salmon included going 5-6 (.833) with two doubles, two RBIs, and four runs scored. The versatile utility man for Arcadia continues to contribute consistently, now batting .391 in 2025.

He went a perfect 3-3 on the week with a double, triple, home run, five runs scored, and three RBIs. The freshman is now hitting .467 with a .586 OBP on the season, tallying 21 hits, two homers, seven doubles, 13 RBIs, 25 runs, and 12 stolen bases.
