Now that the 2025, 2026 and 2027 Illinois rankings have been revised and updated we take a look at the 2028 class. There were numerous showcases this winter, including the Preseason All-State Underclass, as well as the start to the high school season since our initial Top-5 2028 rollout last fall.

With these 2028s still only freshman we purposely keep the list small as we know there are still a number of high-level freshmen we have either not seen at all, or have gotten very limited looks at. The list will be sure to continue to grow in future updates, with one coming towards the start of the summer and end of the high school season.

All the freshmen in this top-10 update have played huge roles for their varsity club this spring.

The top of the class remains the same in this update as OF Carver Cohn (McHenry) holds down the top spot. Cohn, an athletic switch-hitting outfielder, has been leading off and playing center field for McHenry who is currently a top-five team in the state. Cohn swings it equally as well from both sides of the plate, has developing power in the bat and profiles in center field moving forward.
