Prep Baseball Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week: Cal Schneider

New Berlin Eisenhower has been one of the most competitive teams in the WIAA through the first month of the season. Off to a 9-2 start with multiple quality wins on their resume so far, including a sweep over conference rival Wisconsin Lutheran.
Game one of the series, starting pitcher Cal Schneider (2027) would toe the rubber and carry a perfect game into the seventh inning, walking one batter before collecting his 13th and 14th strikeout of the night completing a no hit performance.
The left-hander is a rising sophomore in the state, and has thrown numerous quality outings in front of our staff over the past few years. It's an advanced three pitch arsenal with swing and miss potential on each offering paired with a high physical ceiling standing at 6-foot-1, 150 pounds. The fastball is heavy, sitting in the mid-80s with heavy sink and running action, both secondaries play and are used in any count with feel for the zone, a curveball that sits in the low-70s and a heavy changeup that can be thrown against both handed hitters.

Scouting Report
Cal Schneider (New Berlin Eisenhower, 2027) came away one of the biggest winners from the event. Long known for his advanced pitchability, the ultra projectable 6-foot, 140-pound left-hander showed improved stuff while ticking up in velo. The fastball sat 83-85 mph T86 with heavy sinking action while locating the pitch through the zone. The breaking ball was sharp with two-plane break with bigger action, averaging 19.1 inches of horizontal movement, the changeup complemented both pitches, thrown with intent out of the same window while playing different than the fastball while playing east and west off the breaking ball. Schneider is a high-follow left-hander in the state’s sophomore class.
