NEVADA - This season, we are excited roll out a new feature, the Prep Baseball Nevada Daily Round Up. (#1) Basic Academy 14 Green Valley 3
The top ranked Wolves jumped out early with 6 runs brought across in the 1st, followed by a 7 run 3rd inning with the help of big days at the plate from Kelley (2H, 2R, 1 RBI), Tate Southisene (3 H, 3 R, 3 RBI, 2 2B, 1 HR), Cegavske (1 HR) and Won (2 H, 1 2B). This group will head into the playoffs as the #1 seed in the Mountain conference with their sights set on the ultimate title.
(#5) Bishop Manogue 2 Spanish Springs 0
The Miners got on the board early with the help of a Martyka RBI 2B to go up 1-0 in the 1st, then followed it up with Czyz RBI 1B to bring in another run in the 3rd to go up 2-0. Nevada commit, Huntsman, proved that was all he needed as he struck out 9 over his 7.0 inning, complete game shut out effort that helped Manogue extend their lead as the #1 seed in the Class 5A North conference.
(#7) Las Vegas 3 (#10) Foothill 2
This pivotal game was a pitchers dual between two standout arms in Stidham (Foothill) and Ponticello (LV), with this game remaining tied through 8 innings with both teams having opportunities to bring runs across, but were unable to do so with the arms performing at such a high level. In the bottom of the 9th, Ole Miss signee, Bull, answered the call with a game winning RBI 2B that brought Ponticello around from 1st and securing a huge for the Wildcats in the final week of the regular season.
