National Player of the Week: 4/21 to 4/27

By Andy Sroka
Managing Editor, Scouting

Today, we’re announcing our seventh National Player of the Week of the 2025 campaign, and the last one of April.

The following players were submitted by their coaches to our state directors and they went on to earn the Player or Pitcher of the Week award in those states. From there, we sifted through the country’s POTWs and selected the top performer among them, singling them out as the sole National Player of the Week. If you’re a coach interested in submitting a nomination this season but have not yet received that form so far this spring, visit our staff directory to find the contact information for the state director overseeing your state’s season coverage.

PAST WINNERS

Our staff took player stat lines from the week of April 21 to 27 into account when determining these awards.

🏆 NATIONAL POTW

Jay Secretarski SS / Asheville, NC / 2025

“The senior shortstop went 7-for-12 at the plate with six home runs – including two grand slams – and he drove in 15 runs while also drawing three walks and stealing two bases. His week was highlighted by a three-homer performance and a two-homer game at the Mingo Bay Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Secretarski is now hitting .508 on the season with 12 home runs, 39 RBIs, 19 walks, and 22 stolen bases, and he helped Asheville win three of four games last week.”

Brandon Hall, Mid-Atlantic Director of Scouting

STATE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Alabama

+ Eric Hines, OF (American Christian Academy HS, 2025) | Alabama:
“Hines went 6-for-8 with three home runs, a triple, four RBIs and four walks as No. 3 American Christian took two of three from No. 9 Russellville to advance to the 5A Elite 8. The Alabama recruit and Super 60 participant also scored eight runs last week, and his three homers brought his season total up to a whopping 17 on the spring.”

David Sharp, Deep South Supervisor

(2/22/25)

California

+ Aidan Young, OF (Villa Park HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Young has been on a hot streak the last going back the last six games for Villa Park, but his last three have been significant for the Spartans. The uncommitted outfielder has been the ignitor for the offense from the leadoff spot with three consecutive games of at least three hits.

In his last three games, Young is 11-for-12 (.917 BA) at the plate with a pair of RBI, four runs scored, and a walk. He had a multi-HR game against a league opponent on Monday. A sub-7.00 runner, Young's athleticism and instincts on the field really stand out. The 2024 West Coast Games standout is showing the hit tool that made him one of the best rising juniors heading into last summer. And it's not just the last six games for Young, the junior is slashing .423/.761/1.299 for the season showing the type of consistency that has him as one of the more talked about recruits in his area.”

Les Lukach, California State Director

(4/28/25)

Colorado

+ Sawyer Brinkman, RHP (Golden HS, 2025) | Dodge City CC:
“Brinkman continues to dominate on the mound as the senior tossed a five-inning perfect game with 12 strike outs against Standley Lake and then he followed it up with seven more innings against Pomona when he struckout 11 batters without allowing an earned run, with just one hit, and two walks. The full Week Seven line on Brinkman came in at 12 innings with 23 Ks, no runs on one hit, two walks. Brinkman comes with plenty of pitchability and deception and was also the starter for Golden to knock off Eaton earlier this spring. The Prep Baseball Colorado staff has seen Brinkman up to 87 mph with a quality curveball and changeup combination.”

Caleb Dameron, Colorado Staff

Florida

+ Denton Lord, RHP (South Walton HS, 2026) | Florida:
“Lord, a junior right-hander committed to Florida, earned Pitcher of the Week honors with a combined perfect game performance, throwing five innings, allowing zero hits, zero runs, zero walks, and striking out 12.”

(7/2/24)

+ Tyler Kenast, 1B/LHP (Winter Springs HS, 2026) | Texas Tech:
“Kenast, a junior first baseman and southpaw who's committed to Texas Tech, was named Hitter of the Week after going 6-for-7 with three doubles, three RBIs, and one run scored.”

Rocco Iervasi, Florida Director of Operations

Illinois

+ Josh Fleming, INF (York HS, 2025) | Grand Valley State:
“Fleming has been a driving factor in York's success this spring, and he put together a week to remember at the plate, going 10-for-16 with three home runs, one triple, two doubles, eight RBIs, 10 runs scored, two walks and one stolen base.”

(4/21/25)

+ Austin Musso, RHP (Mascoutah HS, 2025) | Arizona State:
“Musso has been one of the more dominant arms in the state so far this spring, and he put together arguably his best outing yet, striking out 17 in a complete-game (7 IP) shutout with just two hits allowed and one walk.”

Peter Hamot, Assistant Director Illinois/Wisconsin

(4/21/25)

Indiana

+ Peyton Dickens, OF (Whiteland HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Dickens has been one of the biggest winners of the young spring carrying a .464 average with four homers through the fourth week of the season while drawing the attention of power four recruiters and professional scouts alike. Dickens continued his hot streak at the dish last week, going 7-for-11 (.636) with a double, two homers, and five RBIs along with five runs scored and he also swiped five bags. The offensive numbers were impressive, but he also showed out in his start on the mound, throwing five innings of a combined no-hitter in which he struck out nine batters.”

Cooper Trinkle, Indiana Scouting Director

(4/23/25)

Kentucky

+ Austin Bodner, C/OF (Boyle County HS, 2025) | Thomas More (football):
“Boyle County finished last week on a seven-game win streak, and the senior has been at the center of the Rebels' offensive success. Bodner went 5-for-9 last week with a double, two triples and a homer for an impressive 13 total bases in three games. Bodner also drew three walks and stole four bases, three of which coming in a 9-4 win over Marion County, where he went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with seven total bases. The lefty bat now leads the Rebels' roster with 12 extra-base hits, 25 runs, and 19 RBIs, and he is second on the team in hits (19) for a .339 batting average on the season. In addition to his success on the baseball diamond, Bodner has been a key member of Boyle County's powerhouse football program, winning three 4A titles over his high school career. The true multi-sport athlete committed to play football at Thomas More back in December.”

+ Dixon Kincheloe, RHP/INF (Paintsville HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“The young righty had a clutch performance on the mound last week, as Paintsville squared up with crosstown rival Johnson Central with both teams battling each other for the top seed in the 15th Region. Johnson Central managed to take game one of the midweek series, but Kincheloe managed to hold them off in game two to even the standings. The 6-foot 185-pound ace tossed a complete game for the Tigers, allowing just one earned run on three hits, two walks, with an impressive 11 Ks for the win. A battle from start to finish, Paintsville took a 2-1 lead in the fifth and it proved to be enough for the experienced right-hander, who struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh to slam the door for the victory. The Kentucky staff was impressed with the junior two-way last summer at our Top Prospect Games, where he topped out at 85.7 mph on the fastball with spin rates north of 2,250 rpm. Kincheloe now leads the Tigers pitching staff with 30.1 IP (4 W) and 48 Ks on the season, as well as a team-low 1.38 ERA. Paintsville now sits at the top of the rankings in the 15th Region with a 16-4 record and they're on a four-game win streak, started by Kincheloe's clutch outing.”

Jamie Tessoff, Kentucky Scouting Director

(6/19/24)

Louisiana

+ Brayden Calamari, C/RHP (Slidell HS, 2025) | Nunez CC:
“Calamari had a game to remember in the second game of Slidel's series-clinching upset win over the No. 3 seed, Northwood. The uncommitted senior went 2-for-4 at the plate with two grand slams and eight RBIs, and he also earned the win on the mound, after tossing 6.1 innings allowing just two earned runs with seven Ks.”

Alex Armand, Louisiana State Director

(4/19/25)

Minnesota

+ Gavin Griffin, OF (Perham HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“Griffin went 7-for-10 with three home runs, a double, and eight RBIs, and he also stole five bases. The Super Sophomore Games standout has helped his team to a 7-0 start to the season too.”

(3/8/25)

+ Ethan Mrnak, RHP/OF (Lakeville North HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Mrnak threw a no-hitter, going all seven innings and striking out 15, walking just one, to help lead Lakeville North to the win. A recent standout at Minnesota's Preseason All-State event, Mrnak's fastball gets into the low-90s.”

Andy Judkins, Minnesota State Director

(3/15/25)

Oklahoma

+ Hunter Watson, RHP (Tuttle HS, 2026) | Oklahoma:
“The Oklahoma commit tossed a 21 punch-out no-hitter that saw him go the distance, a full seven innings. This complete-game no-hitter was the second that he had been involved in this season, as he tossed a majority of one in the season's early goings. Watson also added a homer and three RBIs to his week from the middle of a gritty and competitive Tuttle lineup.”

Bret Schwartz, Oklahoma Scouting Director

(3/22/25)

Oregon

+ Cody Roletto, C (Ida B. Wells HS, 2025) | Ohlone College:
“Roletto is Oregon's Hitter of the Week after hitting .857 with four doubles and a triple last week. The senior also drove in five runs and scored five times. Roletto was last seen at Prep Baseball's PNW State Games last summer and is committed to play college baseball at Ohlone College next year.”

(7/30/24)

+ Alexander Via, RHP/OF (Summit HS, 2025) | Portland:
“The top-10-ranked senior in the state earns Pitcher of the Week honors in Oregon after throwing seven innings of hitless ball last week. The Portland commit allowed no runs and no walks while striking out 10, with the only baserunners reaching on error. Via was most recently seen at Prep Baseball's PNW Preseason ID this February.”

Dylan Grenz, PNW Associate Scout

(2/22/25)

Texas

+ James Dorotik, INF (El Campo HS, 2025) | Uncommitted:
“Dorotik delivered a clutch-filled and explosive Week 10 performance to earn Player of the Week honors in Texas. He went 7-for-11 at the plate, blasting two home runs, three doubles, and a triple, while tallying seven RBIs and five runs scored. Dorotik came up big when it mattered most – a walk-off home run on Tuesday, a go-ahead homer in the seventh inning Friday against Needville, and a go-ahead RBI triple in the seventh on Saturday. A week full of highlights and high-pressure success.”

+ Matthew Reyna, RHP (South San Antonio HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“Reyna delivered another stellar outing in Week 10, earning the state's Pitcher of the Week honors after throwing his second consecutive no-hitter. He went seven innings, allowing no hits, no earned runs, and he struck out 14 batters. Reyna now holds a 1.29 ERA on the season and has totaled 144 career strikeouts, continuing a strong and consistent run on the mound.”

Brandon Gowins, Texas State Director

(5/31/24)

Washington

+ Braeden Parker, INF/RHP (Mt. Spokane HS, 2026) | Uncommitted:
“The junior earns Washington's Hitter of the Week for Week Seven of the state's spring action after hitting .600 with three home runs last week. The uncommitted athlete also scored eight runs and had 10 RBIs. Parker walked twice and tacked on a triple and a double in a fantastic showing.”

+ Tommy Lamb, RHP/OF (Kamiakin HS, 2025) | Whitworth:
“The senior was dominant in his outing last week, throwing seven innings of shutout baseball while striking out 14 batters. The Whitworth commit allowed no hits and no walks in a fantastic outing. Lamb was most recently seen at Prep Baseball's Reign Baseball Scout Day last summer.”

Dylan Grenz, PNW Associate Scout

Wisconsin

+ Jack Brenner, C (Fond du Lac HS, 2026) | Kent State:
“Brenner capped off the first month of the spring with a strong week for the Cardinals. There were multiple standout performances for Brenner throughout the week going a combined 8-for-14 with two home runs, three doubles, two walks and 11 RBIs.

He began his week on Tuesday against Kimberly, one of the top teams in the state, and Brenner would go 3-for-5 at the plate with five RBIs. All five of his RBIs came in the first two innings, the first on a two-run home run in the first and the second on a bases clearing double to right field. Brenner would keep things going heading into Thursday against Oshkosh North, going 2-for-4 on the day with a double and three RBIs. Friday, Brenner would go 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBIs and two walks, the two RBIs were driven in on a two-run home run in the top of the seventh. Finishing the week on Saturday against West Bend West, Brenner would go 1-for-3 with a double.”

(3/16/25)

+ Cal Schneider, LHP (New Berlin Eisenhower HS, 2027) | Uncommitted:
“New Berlin Eisenhower has been one of the most competitive teams in the WIAA through the first month of the season. Off to a 9-2 start with multiple quality wins on their resume so far, including a sweep over conference rival Wisconsin Lutheran.

Game one of the series, sophomore starter Schneider would toe the rubber and carry a perfect game into the seventh inning, walking one batter before collecting his 13th and 14th Ks of the night completing a no-hit performance.

The left-hander is a rising sophomore in the state, and has thrown numerous quality outings in front of our staff over the past few years. It's an advanced three pitch arsenal with swing and miss potential on each offering paired with a high physical ceiling standing at 6-foot-1, 150 pounds. The fastball is heavy, sitting in the mid-80s with heavy sink and running action, both secondaries play and are used in any count with feel for the zone, a curveball that sits in the low-70s and a heavy changeup that can be thrown against both handed hitters.”
