2025 CHSAA Players of the Week: April 28-May 3

Each week during the high school season, the Prep Baseball Colorado staff will be announcing our 'Player of the Week' award for that particular week. Numerous players from across the state continue to perform and put up numbers on a week-to-week basis, though only one athlete can take home the 'hitter' or 'pitcher' award each week. Below you'll see which players have earned our 'Player of the Week' honors this spring season.

CHSAA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: APRIL 28-MAY 3

PITCHER OF THE WEEK:

Josh Weaver SS / 3B / Fruita Monument, CO / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 22 / POS: 6

Weaver needed just 84 pitches to take care of Grand Junction Central in perfect fashion across 7 innings last week. The uncommitted junior racked up 14 strikeouts in this perfect game where he was simply untouchable. The 2024 Future Games alumni is actively developing on the mound right now with 32.1 innings, 44 Ks, 10 walks, 23 hits, and a 2.38 ERA at the 5A level. Weaver comes with a tall frame that has produced a fastball in the upper 80s from the right-side, while he also has two-way upside with his left-handed swing thanks to his .936 OPS across 75 plate appearances (6 XBH). 

 

 

HITTER OF THE WEEK:

Austin Waltemath SS / RHP / Brighton, CO / 2025

Rankings  StateRank: 68 / POS: 13

Waltemath is a Colorado State University-Pueblo commit who has flashed some real upside with the bat this spring. Last week alone, Waltemath belted 4 homers en route to a 3-0 week for his Brighton Bulldogs' program. The wiry/athletic senior also racked up 10 RBI, added in 2 doubles, 4 walks, and a stolen base during week 8 of spring play. Overall on the season Waltemath is hitting .532 with 9 HR, 3 triples, 6 doubles, 11 stolen bases, and a 1.758 OPS at the 5A level. Waltemath is another thriving athlete with two-way potential as he also comes with a fastball around 90 mph with 37 Ks across 27 innings this season.
