The Prep Baseball Virginia/DC staff makes their way across the Commonwealth and DC throughout the spring to assist high school players in gathering evaluations, including video and some data, that allow our staff to assist in the potential recruitment of student-athletes.
Take a look at a few games and players that stood out over the past few weeks of play.
*Schools and player names are in alphabetical order.*

Culpeper County
|
Adam Gessler RHP / OF / CULPEPER COUNTY HIGH, VA / 2026Gessler has a mature six-foot-five frame with a long arm action from an over-the-top slot. The Mount St. Mary's commit only threw one inning, but he didn't allow a hit and his fastball reached 90 mph. He also contributed offensively, in the first inning, he pulled his hands through the zone and launched a double to left-center field.

Clayton Golden LHP / LHP / CULPEPER COUNTY HIGH, VA / 2026It was another intriguing look at Golden last Tuesday. He has a physical frame with long arm action from a low three-quarters slot and pitches with easy effort level. His fastball featured arm-side run and topped out at 89 mph. He finished the outing with four innings pitched, one earned run, and seven strikeouts.

Hanover

Brady Elrod OF / RHP / Hanover, VA / 2026The athletic six-foot-one Virginia Tech commit had a standout performance Friday night, showcasing both his hit tool and run tool. At the plate, he has a quiet and balanced setup with a fast, slightly uphill barrel path. After doubling to center-field, Elrod proceeded to steal third base—and not long after that he successfully stole home while the pitcher was in the windup. Later in the game, he dropped down a perfect bunt for a single and ended up stealing another bag. With two hits and three stolen bases, the highly ranked junior was a menace on the basepaths all night.

Gabe Jenkins 3B / OF / Hanover , VA / 2025Each time our staff has watched Hanover play this season, one thing has been consistent: Gabe Jenkins finding barrels. The Virginia Military Institute commit has an athletic frame with strength present. He has a quiet and balanced setup with a quick bat through the zone. In the bottom of the first inning, Jenkins turned the barrel on a two-strike fastball up in the zone and sent a no-doubter out of left-field to get the scoring started. In his second at bat, he singled back up the middle to drive in two more runners.

King George
|
Joseph Eves C / OF / King George, VA / 2026The King George catcher has a strong, physical six-foot-three build. At the plate, he has a balanced setup with a quick, slightly uphill barrel path. He picked up two hits in the game, including a double over the right-fielder's head (video below), and drove in three runs. Behind the plate, he threw out the only runner that attempted to steal a base, showing consistent hands and natural exchanges.

Kason Wagner RHP / 3B / Miller School , VA / 2026Wagner is one of the top uncommitted 2026 pitchers in the state. His mechanics are fluid and repeatable, with polish to the delivery. The arm action is short and compact from a three-quarters slot. His fastball sat 84-87 mph with some late life and displayed the ability to locate it consistently to glove-side. As the outing went on, he showed confidence in the curveball in any count. It was an impressive performance—he threw 68% strikes, going six innings, allowing just three hits and no earned runs. With a season ERA under 1.00 against high-level lineups, Wagner has proven to be a competitor who simply gets outs.

St. Christopher's
|
William Hurt SS / C / St. Christopher's, VA / 2025The Virginia Tech commit continues to be a difference-maker for St. Christopher's. Offensively, the bat-to-ball skills have been advanced while also showing some added power to his game. Currently with 92 plate appearances, his on-base percentage is at an astounding .598, with 32 hits—14 of them for extra bases, including four home runs. As the playoffs approach, Hurt will look to continue to swing a hot bat, as well as holding down the defense at shortstop.

|
Jaerron Johnson OF / SS / St. Christopher's, VA / 2027Every time I've watched St. Christopher's this season, Johnson has stood out. In the first inning of this game, he sent an outside fastball the other way for a single. Through twenty-four games, the sophomore is hitting .325 with three doubles, two triples, and two home runs. Keep an eye on this 2027 graduate as he develops and continues to add strength to the frame.
