Each week throughout the high school season, we will announce the Prep Baseball Oregon Pitcher and Hitter of the Week, recognizing standout performances from across the state. With numerous players excelling both at the plate and on the mound, this award will be based on nominations submitted through our POTW Google Form.
Additionally, we will continue our Oregon Diamond Notes to highlight other deserving players nominated by coaches who were not selected as the Pitcher or Hitter of the Week.
This week's Hitter of the Week is '26 INF Sawyer Nelson (South Salem).

Sawyer Nelson SS / 3B / South Salem, OR / 2026Nelson, a key player for top-ranked South Salem, had a huge offensive week last week. The junior went 8/13 with 4 home runs, a double and a walk. The LMU commit also tallied 9 RBI and scored 7 runs across three games. Nelson was most recently seen with team PNW at Prep Baseball's Future Games last summer. |
