LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the California Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting a Hitter and Pitcher of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from around California. 

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes which will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches who are deserving of recognition but were not named Hitter/Pitcher of the Week.

HITTER OF THE WEEK

2026 OF Aidan Young of Villa Park High School has been named the Prep Baseball California Hitter of the Week for his scorching hot week at the plate helping the Spartans extend their win streak to seven games. 

Young was the spark early and often out of the leadoff spot in the three victories for Villa Park last week. Whether it was driving in runs, scoring runs, or hitting balls out of the yard, Young seemed to do it all for the Spartans. Young finished the week going 8-for-12 (.667 BA), scoring five runs, driving in seven, and hitting two bombs (had one the prior week) as the Spartans rolled in all three wins over quality opponents. 

Young’s hot hitting isn’t something that is recent for Villa Park. As the leadoff hitter for a playoff bound team, the 2024 West Coast Games standout is showing the hit tool that made him one of the best rising juniors heading into last summer. The junior is slashing .423/.761/1.299 for the season showing the type of consistency that has him as one of the more talked about recruits in his area.
