Prep Baseball Report

2025 CHSAA Players of the Week: May 5-13

Caleb Dameron
Prep Baseball Colorado Staff

Each week during the high school season, the Prep Baseball Colorado staff will be announcing our 'Player of the Week' award for that particular week. Numerous players from across the state continue to perform and put up numbers on a week-to-week basis, though only one athlete can take home the 'hitter' or 'pitcher' award each week. Below you'll see which players have earned our 'Player of the Week' honors this spring season.

NOTE: These submissions were provided from high school coaches and others from around our state. If you are a interested in nominating a player, please contact Marc Wagner ([email protected]).

CHSAA PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: MAY 5-13

PITCHER OF THE WEEK:

Jason Olsen SS / RHP / Legacy, CO / 2025

The Prep Baseball Colorado staff was on hand for last week's top pitching performance as Olsen went 6.2 innings against a ranked Mountain Vista squad with 14 Ks, just 2 hits allowed, 2 walks, and zero runs. The Chandler-Gilbert commit and West Coast Games alumni is one of the toughest arms to beat in the state at the moment. Olsen's fastball comes in around 88-90 mph but what really stands out is his above-average spin rates and carry on his four-seamer. The senior is able to generate around 18 inches of IVB (induced vertical break) with an average spin rate over 2,600 rpm. Olsen pairs this strong fastball with a swing and miss breaking ball that he can spin around 2,700 rpm. We also saw Olsen flash some +changeups to left-handed hitters in this game. Overall on the season, Olsen has racked up 60 Ks in 30.2 innings with a 1.60 ERA at the 5A level in Colorado. Olsen will matchup with Cherokee Trail in regionals this weekend in what could be an electric pitching matchup if Cherokee Trail pairs him up with Carter Wilcox and his 95 mph fastball from the left-side.

HITTER OF THE WEEK:

Titus Dokes RHP / 3B / Denver East, CO / 2026

Dokes is an actively developing athlete who had a strong week with the bat during the final games of the regular season. The tall uncommitted junior had a multi-homer game against George Washington when he went 4 for 4 overall with 2 HR, 5 RBI, a walk, and 3 runs scored. Dokes also added in a hit, 2 runs scored, and two stolen bases earlier in the week against Montbello. The Denver East athlete is worth a close follow in 2025 as he also comes with a fastball around 90 mph and plenty of projection on the mound (24.1 IP / 35 Ks this spring).

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Kyle McDonnell, Brady Mylander, Fred Lohne, Liam Martin, Jacob Holm, Israel Castillo, Fabian Gaeta
