NorCal Rising Stars Game: Preview
May 9, 2025
This Saturday, May 10th, the Prep Baseball California team is hosting the NorCal Rising Stars Game at Islanders Field in Lathrop, CA. This is an invite-only event for all Rising Stars classes (2029-2030), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

RISING STARS EVENTS
This event has a dual function. For most participants, this will be their first showcase event - an initial step toward achieving a player’s baseball goals. Part of this event is educational: there will be a lecture about what scouts look for, how to comport themselves, what to expect in the recruiting process, and the overall landscape of playing at the next level. The second function of the event is to identify young talent, and at the same time getting valuable coaching in the showcase process. As the preeminent scouting service across our 40+ state coverage area, Prep Baseball is looking to identify promising young prospects at an earlier age so we can more accurately track their progress through their career.
This event will also serve as an identifier for invitations to the Junior Future Games in July. The Junior Future Games will run in conjunction with the Prep Baseball's Future Games and Senior Future Games. The Future Games features the top High School players in the Class of 2027 from across Prep Baseball's 40+ state coverage area. It is one of the most highly recruited events of the summer and attracts more than 400 college coaches from across the country each year.
The Junior Future Games, an Invitation-Only event, will feature the best identified prospects from across the country in a four-day event at Lake Point in Cartersville, GA. This state-of-the-art facility features 8 all-turf fields. Participants will compete against other top-level players while representing their respective state.
2025 ROSTER
This year's roster is already shaping up nicely, with plenty of names making their way to a Prep Baseball showcase for the first time.

Dash Footman OF / 3B / Encinal , CA / 2029From 3/2/25: “Another standout athlete from the Bay Area, Footman brings physicality to the field at 5-foot-11, 180 pounds. During BP, he was one of the few players to leave the yard, showcasing his raw power. His max exit velocity reached 86.7 mph, with an average EV of 81.1 mph and a max distance of 315 feet, finding the sweet spot 71% of the time. While his swing can get long at times, he consistently found the barrel throughout his round. Footman also flashed his athleticism with a 7.44 60-yard dash, a max RSI score of 1.39, and a 21.5-inch vertical jump. Beyond his performance, he carried himself well throughout the event and was a respectful, easygoing presence in conversation. Best of luck to Footman as he wraps up his 8th-grade season.” |

Kolten Irwin LHP / 1B / Folsom High, CA / 2029From 2/9/25: “Irwin is an interesting two way that has the potential to do damage on both sides of the ball. Checked in at 5’9” 162.5lbs, tested 80.3 (RH) & 76.1 (LH) for his grip strength with a vertical of 15.2 in. Got in tons of work as he was the only 1B who attended the event, good glove work and first steps. Max EV was 76.1 MPH with an avg velocity of 72.5 MPH. (Avg launch angle avg of 24.6). On the mound is where I can see Irwin being the most dominant, he topped out at 74.3 MPH with an avg FB velocity of 70.9 MPH. The CB is gross, coming in about 20 MPH slower than his FB. CB spin 1755 MPH with an avg velo of 54.3 MPH and 17.2 in of total movement. The SL is another good pitch in his arsenal at 58.6 MPH with an avg spin of 1814 RPM and 17.5 in of total avg movement. Very efficient spin on all of his pitches that were thrown.” |

Enzi-Yaw Otieku SS / RHP / Encinal Junior/Senior High, CA / 2029From 3/2/25: “Otieku, a 6-foot, 166-pound athlete from the Bay Area, put together an impressive all-around performance at the event. Everything he did stood out, showcasing his athleticism and upside. He ran a 7.38-second 60-yard dash, posted a max RSI score of 1.46, and recorded a max vertical jump of 25.2 inches—one of the best in the event. Defensively, he showed above-average infield actions with a strong arm, recording an event-best 82 mph across the infield. At the plate, Otieku’s bat-to-ball skills were on display. He recorded a max exit velocity of 91.6 mph, an average EV of 84 mph, and a max distance of 290 feet. Most notably, his 75% sweet spot rate highlighted his ability to consistently find the barrel. With his athleticism and skill set, Otieku has the potential to be a legit two-way player at the next level. He and Footman, who will be attending the same school, could be a force together in the coming years. Don’t be surprised if both make an early varsity impact. Expect to hear plenty more about Otieku as the season progresses.” |
