FORT MYERS, FL
– The 2025 FHSAA Class 4A Baseball State Championships at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers delivered a thrilling three-game saga, with the American Heritage Patriots emerging as champions through a blend of clutch performances, dominant pitching, and timely hitting. Overcoming Mulberry, Jesuit, and Arnold, the Patriots showcased their depth and resilience, culminating in a commanding title win that electrified the Fort Myers faithful.

Semifinal: Mulberry vs. Jesuit

The journey began on Monday, May 12, as the Mulberry Panthers faced the Jesuit Tigers in a tightly contested semifinal that hinged on pitching and defense. Mulberry’s Gavin Stedman was a force on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits, striking out five, and walking five to earn the win. Jesuit’s Wilson Andersen matched him with grit, surrendering three runs (one earned) on three hits over six innings with six strikeouts, but took the loss.

Mulberry struck first in the opening inning, as Hayden Wyatt’s double plated two runs for a 2-0 lead. They added an insurance run in the third on a wild pitch, making it 3-1. Wyatt, batting cleanup, led with an RBI, going 1-for-3, while Nic Partridge went 2-for-2 to pace the Panthers’ offense. Mulberry looked sharp and ready to finish off a big win with Coby Anker securing the save.

Jesuit fought back, with Bryce Besece and Vincent DeCarlo each collecting two hits, and Andersen driving in two runs. The Tigers loaded the bases in the last inning but were unable to come out on top as Mulberry secured a 3-2 victory and a spot in the championship game.

Semifinal: American Heritage vs. Arnold

In the other semifinal, American Heritage faced the Arnold Marlins in a game that stretched to extra innings, testing both teams’ resolve. The Patriots struck first in the bottom of the first, with Joseph Castro’s single and Dylan Dubovik’s double each driving in a run for a 2-0 lead. Arnold answered in the third, as Conor McCann’s single to center tied the game at 2-2.

The pitching duel was intense, with American Heritage’s Talan Holiday allowing two runs on six hits over 5.1 innings, striking out eight, while Caden Garro tossed 2.2 scoreless innings in relief, striking out four to earn the win. Cooper Moss came in unexpectedly in the first and delivered 7.1 sharp innings with eight strikeouts.

In the bottom of the eighth, with the game tied, Blayden Caballero delivered a walk-off single, scoring the winning run for a 3-2 victory. Caballero led American Heritage with a 2-for-3 day and the Patriots headed to the final.

Final: American Heritage vs. Mulberry

On Tuesday, May 13, American Heritage and Mulberry clashed for the Class 4A title at Hammond Stadium, where the Patriots’ balanced attack proved too much. American Heritage erupted in the second inning, as Chris Levy’s two-RBI single and RJ Machado’s sacrifice fly fueled a five-run outburst, taking a 5-0 lead. Levy added another RBI in the third via a fielder’s choice, pushing the score to 6-0.

Mark Aleman was stellar on the mound for American Heritage, tossing five scoreless innings, allowing two hits, striking out five, and walking four to earn the win. Enrique Santos closed out the game with 1.2 scoreless innings, striking out two as American Heritage claimed its 4th State Title in school history.
