WIAA Diamond Notes: Week 7

Each week, WIAA coaches around the state submit to us their nominations for the Prep Baseball Wisconsin Player of the Week and Prep Baseball Wisconsin Pitcher of the Week honors. Yesterday, we awarded the Week 7 Player of the Week to INF Macay Wagner (Slinger, 2025; Bryant & Stratton) and the Pitcher of the Week to RHP Braylon Brantner (Hortonville, 2026) for their excellent performances on the diamond. There were multiple standout performances for Wagner throughout the week, going 9-for-16 with five doubles, 11 RBIs, three walks, and scoring seven runs. On Tuesday, Brantner completed a seven inning perfect game, striking out 10 batters.
There were a number of other impressive performances that were in the mix for the award and deserve recognition. Here’s a look at some of the most notable.
WEEK 7 DIAMOND NOTES
+ Kingston Grisolono, CF (Kewaskum, 2027):
Uncommitted, Grisolono continues to stay consistant at the plate, last week went 6-for-9 with a walk, double, three triples, home run, nine RBIs, and four stolen bases.
+ Eli Dreier, 3B (Wisconsin Lutheran, 2027):
Uncommitted, Dreier had a few late game hits against Pewaukee and Kettle Moraine Lutheran to break the scoring open. Had a nice week offensively, finishing 6-for-12 with a walk, two doubles, triple, and eight RBIs.
+ Max Glusick, SS (Sun Prairie East , 2025; Wisconsin-Milwaukee):
Milwaukee commit, Glusick had an impressive all-around week, at the plate had some clutch hits, including a two out single in the bottom of the seventh. Then scored the game winning run later that inning. Glusick also hit a two-run homer against Monona Grove on Friday. On the week, the senior was 6-for-10 with three RBIs against some high-level pitching.
+ Dane Vermillion , 1B (Wauwatosa East, 2025; St. Scholastica):
Vermillion, a St. Scholastica recruit had a nice week offensively for Wauwatosa East. In eight ABs, the senior had five hits, one walk, two doubles, and seven RBIs.
+ Brady Patten, 3B/P (Verona, 2025; St. Mary’s-Minnesota):
Patten had an impressive game against Oregon where he finished 3-for-3 with five RBIs and pitched five innings with three strikeouts, securing the win. On the week, Patten went 5-for-10 with three walks, four doubles and six RBIs.
+ Ryan Wettstein, RF (De Pere, 2025; Minnesota-Duluth (Football)):
Wettstein swung it well last week for De Pere. The UMD football recruit finished 10-for-16 at the plate with two doubles, a RBI, and five stolen bases.
+ Jacob Hurtgen, CF (Watertown , 2025; Bryant & Stratton):
The Bryant & Stratton commit was a tough out last week. In 12 at-bats, Hurtgen had nine hits, three walks, a double, two RBIs, and two stolen bases out of the two hole for the Goslings.
+ Carson Jesberger, RHP (Edgewood, 2025; Wisconsin-Whitewater):
The Whitewater commit, Jesberger threw a no-hitter against Baraboo on Friday. In five innings of work, the right-hander had just one walk, no runs, and struck out six.
+ Axell Allain, 1B (Columbus, 2025):
Allain makes another appearance on the Diamond Notes, last week the first basemen went 4-for-8 with three walks, three doubles, four RBIs, and had a stolen base for Columbus.
+ Trevor Vande Hey, OF/RHP (Wrightstown, 2025; Iowa):
Iowa recruit and former Future Gamer, Vande Hey made two game saving catches in center against Freedom to preserve a 1-0 win. Also, had the game winning RBI double in the first inning of the same 1-0 Freedom game. The senior threw a five inning complete game shutout against Waupaca giving up four hits, no walks and six strikeouts. Had a two RBI base hit in the fifth inning to tie the second game of the double header against Waupaca at 2-2. Wrightstown won the game 3-2 in eight innings. Had seven hits on the week with two doubles, three triples, and five RBIs.
NO. 5 ARROWHEAD
Arrowhead finished the week 3-0, defeating No. 22 Muskego (12-7), No. 9 Whitnall (17-4), and Sun Prairie West (11-9). Below were some of their top performers.
+ Cam Carter, CF/P (Arrowhead, 2026; Illinois-Chicago):
The UIC commit had a nice week for Arrowhead. At the plate, Carter had five hits in seven at bats along with a walk, three runs scored and an RBI. Carter also got the win on the mound against Whitnall, tossing five innings, allowing four earned runs, four hits, three walks, and had six strikeouts.
+ PJ Hamel, C (Arrowhead, 2025; McHenry County JC):
MCC commit, Hamel had a loud week at the plate, in 11 at bats, Hamel had five hits, all of which were extra base hits including, three doubles, and two triples, driving in four runs.
+ Yamato Takahashi, LF (Arrowhead, 2025; MIT):
The MIT commit had four hits in nine at-bats last week out of the two hole for Arrowhead, including a hit by pitch, two walks, three runs, and a stolen base.
NO. 25 SEYMOUR
The Thunder finished the week 4-0, defeating Shawano (10-8) twice and Xavier (9-11) twice. Below were some if their top performers.
+ Brandon Poch, SS (Seymour, 2025):
Uncommitted, Poch had a quality week at the plate for Seymour, in 11 ABs, the senior had six hits, one walk, triple, six RBIs, and six stolen bases.
+ Micah Byers, C (Seymour, 2026):
Uncommitted, Byers impressed last week with the bat, the junior finished the week 6-for-10 with two walks, two HBP, double, and five RBIs.
NO. 12 SLINGER
The Owls finished the weel 4-1, defeating West Bend East (4-18), Homestead (5-16), Ashwaubenon (8-11), and Neenah (8-10). Losing to No. 23 Whitefish Bay (16-4). Below were some of their top performers.
+ Andon Schroeder, RHP (Slinger, 2026):
Uncommitted, Schroeder made two appearances on the mound last week for Slinger, one start, and one out of the bullpen. In nine total innings of work, the right-hander allowed no runs, two hits, no walks, and struck out six.
+ Chase Leverance , CF (Slinger, 2025):
Uncommitted, Leverance swung a hot bat at the plate last week, in 22 at-bats, the senior had 12 hits, including two walks, three doubles, six RBIs, and three stolen bases. At one point in the week, he was 11-for-11.
WAUNAKEE
The Warriors finished he week 3-1, defeating DeForest (9-11) twice, and Holmen (14-8-1). Losing to Marshfield (8-14). Below were some of their top performers.
+ Wes DuCharme, DH/P (Waunakee, 2027):
Uncommitted, DuCharme continues to impress for the Warriors. The leadoff hitter went 7-for-14 with two walks, a double, three RBIs, and three stolen bases. The sophomore also started on the mound against DeForest, getting the win. In 6.2 innings of work, DuCharme allowed three earned runs on five hits, three walks, and struck out three.
+ Colin Murphy, C (Waunakee, 2026):
Uncommitted, the backstop had a quality week at the plate for the Warriors. Murphy finished 6-for-14 with two walks, a double, home run, six RBIs, and three stolen bases.
