Prep Baseball KC Evolution Series Tournament Preview

The Prep Baseball KC Evolution Series 2025 is set to begin Friday, May 9th, at the Homefield and Creekside Baseball Complexes, Bonner Springs High School, and the University of Saint Mary’s. This year, we have 134 teams from 5 different states registered in 11 different divisions.

Let’s take a look at last year’s champions:

  • 9u D1/D2 - KC Scrappers went 4-0 with a run differential of 28.
  • 10u D1/D2 - KC Cubs went 5-0 with a run differential of 23.
  • 11u D3 - Natural Baseball Academy - Jones went 4-1 with a run differential of 0.
  • 11u D1/D2 - Old School Ducks - Mitchell went 4-0 with a run differential of 35.
  • 12u D1 - Old School Ducks - Williams went 4-0 with a run differential of 15.
  • 12u D2 - Wichita Reds 12u went 4-0 with a run differential of 30.
  • 12u D3 - Old School Ducks - Alumni went 4-0 with a run differential of 30.
  • 13u D1 - KC Outlaws 2029 went 4-0 with a run differential of 20.
  • 13u D2 - Team KC - Jensen 13u went 5-0 with a run differential of 19.
  • 14u D1 - STL Legacy 14u - Rogers went 4-0 with a run differential of 29.
  • 14u D2 - KC Dirtbags went 4-0 with a run differential of 21.

Looking at the field for the 2025 Evolution Series, we have exciting teams and players to track as the weekend goes on. Let’s take a look at the top teams to watch in the 14u and 13u divisions.

14u

  • Warrior Baseball Club - JPZ 14u: WBC from Columbia, MO, was founded by Danny Hill, who played professionally in the Toronto Blue Jays system. WBC calls Big Hitters MO home, a data-driven baseball/softball facility in Columbia. WBC - JPZ 14u has a record of 7-1 so far this spring.

  • Building Champions Navy 14u: Located in Olathe, KS, Building Champions was founded by Jeremy Jones and has become a local hub for Kansas City talent. Powered by Homefield, BC has an impressive resume of alumni, including Major Leaguers John Means, Trevor Rosenthal, Alex Lange, Will Brennan, and Bubba Starling. BC 14u Navy has some exciting talent that we have seen a few times this spring. Some top players include Thomas Eggers, Bijan Kamerzell, Will Francis, Mason Meloan, and Carson Cassidy.

  • US Nationals Midwestern KS: From Lenexa, Kansas, US Nationals is a national program broken out by region for the development of elite baseball players. Partnered with Premier Baseball in Overland Park, Kansas, the Nationals have had hundreds of players move on to college and beyond. The US Nationals Midwestern KS 14u's top players include Garrett Nimz, Kael Fisher, Lowen Larson, Larson Robinson, and Hudson Evans.

  • US Nationals Midwestern MO: Located in Lake Winnebago, MO, we have the Missouri side of the US Nationals Midwestern group. The US Nationals Midwestern (MO)'s top players include Lincoln Sersch, Phillip Barton, and Zane Frazee.

  • Staley Sluggers: From Kansas City, MO, the Sluggers have enjoyed some success in Prep Baseball KC events this spring, taking home the Prep Baseball KC Clash Championship in March. They went 4-0 in the Clash and had a run differential of 34. Some top players are Roman Strain, Bennett Rothermel, Fabian Palomarez, Cruz Dawson, and Elan Griffin.

  • Canes Iowa: From West Des Moines, IA, the Canes are the Iowa group under the Canes national umbrella. Historically, Canes is known for its national teams that house some of the country's top players. Notable Canes alumni include Corbin Carroll, Wyatt Lankford, Anthony Volpe, and Jo Adell. The Iowa Canes have a spring record of 11-1 coming into the Evolution Series, and some of their top players are Hudson Curtin, Gage Hager, Devin Hernandez, and Jack Krueger.

  • Prime 27:17 National 13u: Founded in 2018 by Jerrod Ryherd, Prime has quickly become a big name throughout KC baseball due to the talent that has come through their program. Some notable high school prospects to wear a Prime uniform include Kentucky commit Carson May (26'), Texas commit Beau Peterson (26'), Florida commit Keaton Neal, and Louisville commit Parker Clubb (26'). The Prime 27:17 National 13u's top players are Lorin Sapp, Graham Robertson, Cooper Kennedy, Greyson Wilson, and Drake Bush.

  • Millard Battle Blue 13u: The Millard United Sports program in Omaha, NE, has been the premier sports program in Nebraska for 85 years. Millard Battle Blue 13u is coming into the Evolution Series with a spring record of 15-11, and some of their top players include Brody Bothwell, Jaden Parker, Brogan Leighton, and Nolan Blanchard.
