Uncommitted Spotlight: 2026 Outfielders

Cooper Trinkle
Scouting Director

We are past the halfway mark through the spring and inching closer and closer towards the summer recruiting period. This end-of-spring to summer period is a vital time for uncommitted juniors, as recruiters will likely be out in bunches at this time in order to evaluate this class. Our staff plans to break down the top uncommitted players at each position as we near this time, with plenty of talented options still on the board. We move next to the outfielders, with 20 highlighted below, and our most recent showcase video attached of each prospect (& in-game if applicable), along with a scouting report for those that have attended events recently.

Ian Taylor OF / Guerin Catholic / 2026

From (3/18/25)

+ Profile: Stocky, compact, R/R, 5-foot-10, 185 pounder w strength and twitch. 6.94 runner in the 60-yard dash with a 90 mph OF arm to pair. Likely fits best in RF at the next level but has upside in CF. Some of the best force-plate measures of the event with 29-plus standing vertical. Force production is evident in the box. Present plus bat speed in controlled-but-violent rotational right-handed swing. Exit reached over 105 mph for present above average raw power and chances of plus to be developed. Fast barrel works w above average feel. Actions - Offense: Sets up in wide, grounded stance and uses a hovering leg lift stride to pair with an active hand load. Looks to do damage w dangerous intent. More-level path leads to present gap-to-gap power with flashes of it shown to the pull-side. Rotates down. Defense: Aggressive athlete w quick, twitchy arm. Summation: Taylor is coming off an injury-plagued sophomore season and reintroduced himself with a bang with standout force production data. Point blank, Taylor is ultra-twitchy and uses the ground to his advantage to create the aforementioned present plus bat speed. His barrel is in the way of the baseball for a long time with the ability to make hard contact to all fields prevelant. It is more of a strength over speed type athlete, but he is an above average runner underway. Taylor is a savvy, hard-nosed, throwback type kid that has a real chance to impact the game at the next level with his abilities at the plate.

Blake Cope OF / 1B / Covenant Christian / 2026

From (3/18/25)

+ Profile: 6-foot-1, 205 pounder w a leaner-more athletic look that I've seen of him in the past. Burned a 6.56 60-yard dash while reaching 100-plus exits to allow for power/speed LH profile. Creates present plus bat speed (79 mph avg). 87 mph arm from the OF. Likely still profiles to a Corner OF spot, though run time elevating open CF possibilities, & is a serviceable 1B. Actions - Offense: Starts tall before a subtle sink into heavier forward move. Rigidness to the upper body in the load, holds angles as he works out. Front foot hitter at times. Turns the barrel with present bat speed and fast hands on more upward path. Present strength from middle of the field to pullside foul pole. Summation: Cope continues to develop as a freakish athlete while polishing up his baseball skills in total. The 6.56 60-time is super intriguing considering the mass that he has to carry in order to do so. He creates a ton of ground force that shows up in advanced batted ball metrics and bat speed. The left-handed bat and versatile defensive profile also works in his favor with a LH run-producers' profile standing out most.

Colt DeHart OF / RHP / Indian Creek Sr High School, IN / 2026

From (3/03/24)

+ Dehart holds significant upside in his 6-foot-2, 185 pound frame full-of lean strength. The bat is becoming more impactful - reaching a peak exit velocity of 96.2 mph - and he produced high exit velocities with a low-effort swing, a trait of a future-power bat. The swing works with easy flick to optimize accuracy, and a good run tool (6.85 60) adds another layer to the profile. The arm is a tool, as well, and Dehart holds two-way upside (up to 87 mph on the bump w/ command). There is ample room for strength to be added to his projectable frame.

Jace Watson OF / C / Castle High School, IN / 2026

From (3/18/25)

+ Profile - 6-foot-2, 195 pound left-handed hitting OF that came up as a C. Foot speed has elevated into a tick below plus, turning in a 6.72 60-yard dash to enhance an already solid offensive profile. Exits reach 103 with present abv avg to better bat speed (76 mph avg) the frame has room to pack on quality strength that could lead both of those to pluses down the road. 88 mph OF arm is an abv avg tool. Actions - Offense: Starts wider with small lift and active hand load. Handsy, rotational swing with present pull-side power developed. Some whip to the barrel in a flatter path. Aggressive. Summation: Watson has made tremendous improvements in his body composition and overall athleticism that paid big dividends to the toolset. He is make the switch to become a primary OF and the run time elevating into the low-6.7s should help him there. He is 6-foot-2, physical, impacts the baseball, and runs well while hitting from the left-side, a profile that should draw schools to see him this spring for Castle and also on the summer circuit.

Reis Bellar OF / Peru, IN / 2026

From (9/4/25)

+ 6-foot-3, 170 pounds (LHH), 6.87 60, 85 OF, 92.7 exit velocity

Bellar is an upside left-handed bat to dream on. A lengthy, projectable frame will fill out into physicality, which will only elevate the overall impact that he brings to the table. Presently, shows pull-side power with quick, twitchy hands. An above-average runner now, strength gains should reduce the 60 time and will also allow his present above average arm strength ot improve, as well.

Brock Kintner OF / 1B / Columbus North , IN / 2026

From (3/18/25)

+ A physical-looking, 6-foot-2, 195 pounder. Solid toolset accross the board, the right-handed swing is his biggest strength. Looks the part of a next-level run-producer with a repeatable stroke & bat speed included. The swing is short with power lurking evident in the 99-plus exits he produced. Kintner also turned in a 7.07 60-yard dash to pair with an 88 mph arm from the outfield.

Collin Ash OF / LHP / Roncalli , IN / 2026

From (3/18/25)

+ Left-handed hitting athletes are at a premium and Ash fits that mold. He is a 5-foot-10, 170 pounder that ran a 6.70 60-yard dash to begin the day. He hits from the left-side with a short, handsy, on-top swing that produced line drive ball flights at 95+ mph on the top-end. The swing and feet fit a table-setters' mold, while his 89 mph outfield arm is another tool that he provides.

Reed Sawa OF / Center Grove, IN / 2026

From (3/18/25)

+ Sawa is a highly-athletic outfielder from Center Grove that burned a 6.66 60-yard dash to go along with the best force plate data of the day (32.7" vertical). He's got a chance to stick in centerfield at the next level with the aforementioned foot speed and an above average arm to pair. Offensively, the right-handed hitter shows a short swing with abv avg accuracy and some whip to the barrel head + fast hands.

Tyler Denny OF / Mooresville , IN / 2026

From (4/25/25)

+ Denny is starting to really blossom physically and has added strength to his 5-foot-10 frame over the offseason. He's showing evolving gap power and an emerging speed/power profile with 13 SB and 5 XBH on the young spring. His strikeout rates are down, as well, and he showed the ability to hit next-level velocity in a look versus Perry that included a well-struck double versus a firm fastball. A 6.6 runner - Denny deploys a short, direct swing that he repeats well. He has the foot speed to stick in center and looks the part tracking out there, with average arm strength shown.

Landon Hughes OF / 1B / CATHEDRAL HIGH SCHOOL, IN / 2026

From (12/30/24)

+ Hughes was impressive at this event, really standing out amongst his peers with his physical, 6-foot-2, 205 pound frame. After turning in a 7.13 60-yard dash, Hughes took my favorite round of batting practice of the day with a loose, well-paced, left-handed stroke. There is some heaviness to the barrel as he turns it on an upward plane, reaching a peak exit velocity of 101.5 mph. Solid arm strength (88 from the outfield) rounds out a well-rounded toolset. Hughes has a chance to step into a big run-producers' role for Cathedral this spring and his showing this weekend may be indicative of a breakout junior season looming.

Joshua Newton OF / Hamilton Heights, IN / 2026

From (3/18/25)

+ 5-foot-10, 185 pound stocky body. Solid toolset across the board is highlighted by a 6.78 60-yard dash and 90 mph OF arm. Offensively, he uses an up-tempo, toe tap stride with a small hand climb in the load to offset forward move. Ambush tendencies, looks to get the ball in the air to pull-side with 97-plus exits. Solid rotator w present above average bat speed (73 mph). Profiles best in the corner OF w CF upside.

Dane Dudley OF / Batesville High School, IN / 2026

From (3/01/25)

+ Dudley is a junior OF with a proportional 5-foot-11, 183-pound frame and impressive athleticism. The left-handed hitter features a very fluid swing with occasional heavier forward movement, but the path stays on-plane and shows above-average strength. He posted a 99 mph max exit velocity (85.4 avg) and is a high follow offensively, with strength gains likely unlocking more power. Dudley moves well defensively with solid feet and sure hands, and his 86 mph arm from the outfield adds value. A 6.94 runner with a 27.2” vertical, he’s a dynamic athlete with big upside.

Rykin Matthias OF / North Central, IN / 2026

From (3/01/25)

+ 2026 OF with a strong, compact 6-foot, 197-pound frame and standout athleticism. The left-handed hitter works from a balanced setup with a stable lower half, flashing big bat speed through a short, direct swing path that stays flat through the zone. He posted a 98 mph max exit velocity with a 347’ max distance, underscoring real power potential. Defensively, Matthias shows present arm strength with an 89 mph OF arm and moves well, running a 6.91 in the 60 with a 29.1” vertical. A strong all-around athlete with physical tools and offensive impact.

Brett Huffman OF / LHP / Delphi Community High School, IN / 2026

From (3/01/25)

+ Brett Huffman, a 6-foot, 165-pound OF/LHP from Delphi, is a twitchy, athletic left-handed hitter with a higher ceiling stemming from a toolsy profile. He hits from a wide stance with a short stride and an uphill swing that flashes impressive bat speed and ability to impact the baseball. He posted a 99 mph max exit velocity, averaging 88.9 mph, showing real juice off the bat. Huffman's athleticism shines with a 6.91 60-yard dash and an 89 mph arm from the OF, projecting well in a corner outfield role. On the mound, he’s been up to 84 mph from the left side. A high-upside two-way follow in Indiana’s 2026 class

Nate Southwell OF / 1B / Munster, IN / 2026

From (2/27/25)

+ Southwell is a good LHH follow out of the region-area. There is some physicality and present strength to the 6-foot, 185 pound frame that produced exits over 101 mph, and he repeated the operation with an average exit over 97 mph throughout his BP round. The swing starts from a taller setup, and he uses an athletic move into the baseball as his hands remain in a deep, loaded position. He turns the barrel on-plane early in the hitting zone and is able to create length through the front of the zone. His toolset continues to elevate as he turned in an 86 mph OF arm and 7.02 60-yard dash. The bat is the best tool here. Southwell posted big numbers as a sophomore at Munster and appears to be primed for another big spring.

Jonathan Riley OF / McCutcheon High School, IN / 2026

Luke Goben OF / Andrean, IN / 2026

From (10/29/24)

+ Goben boasts an athletic, 5-foot-10, 170 pound frame that holds compact strength. Goben turned in a 6.95 60-yard dash before providing a table-setters look in batting practice, loading early in a quiet fashion before delivering the barrel on a short path to spray liners from gap-to-gap. While the swing is geared more towards a contact-oriented approach, he did show some strength with his best ball leaving the bat at 94.5 mph.

Drew Bostic OF / SS / Brownsburg , IN / 2026

From (3/01/25)

+ Bostic owns a lean, twitchy 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame and standout athleticism. At the plate, he starts from an athletic base with some rigidity in his actions but generates a twitchy, compact swing that works on a flatter path. He profiles as a top-of-the-order table-setter with advanced bat-to-ball skills and the potential to grow into power, producing a 93 mph max exit velocity and 277’ peak distance. Defensively, Bostic is a versatile mover with quick feet and athletic instincts that translate both on the dirt and in the outfield. His 87 mph arm from the outfield and 84 mph across the infield show above-average strength, with fast arm speed being a clear trait. A 6.71 runner with a 26.6” vertical, Bostic is a dynamic athlete with tools that play across the field.

Jack Gonzalez OF / SS / William Henry Harrison High School, IN / 2026

From (3/01/25)

+ Jack Gonzalez is a 2026 OF with a wiry, athletic 6-foot, 160-pound frame and standout straight-line speed. The RHH shows a balanced setup and a loose, handsy load, followed by a quick, direct swing that flashes rotational strength and fast hands. He posted a 95 mph max exit velocity (87.5 avg) with a 364’ peak distance. In the outfield, Gonzalez showed a quick arm up to 85 mph. A 6.56 runner with a 24.4” vertical, he’s a dynamic mover with athletic traits that impact the game.

Gray Stockwell OF / Homestead Senior High School, IN / 2026

From (4/25/25)

+ Stockwell has shown well across a multitude of my looks thus far this spring, hitting in the middle of the 9-1 Homestead lineup and playing CF. He stands at 6-foot-3, 195 pounds, athletic and strong presently with more room for strength. He hits from a wide setup, quiet hands in the load deliver the barrel on a slightly uphill plane with above average bat speed. Stockwell has sprayed liners to all fields in my looks, the arm is a solid tool from the OF and the run tool is above average (6.99) at this time.
