As always, our evaluation process is fluid and ongoing, built on multiple viewings and discussions to get the most accurate feel for each player’s abilities. It’s worth noting that while some players show rapid improvement, this doesn’t suggest that others have regressed—player development is simply a journey with peaks and valleys. As the season unfolds, new names will continue to surface, expanding the universe of top prospects in Alabama. In addition to our player evaluations, our scouts—both in-state and nationally—have been in constant dialogue, comparing notes and making adjustments based on the latest insights to ensure the rankings are as up-to-date and accurate as possible.

Rocco Maniscalco SS / Oxford High School, AL / 2027Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1
"Maniscalco enters the season with as much anticipation as any prospect in Alabama, yet the sophomore handles it all with a professional, business-like approach. The state’s No. 1-ranked player in the 2027 class wasted no time making an impression, standing out even before first pitch with a smooth, polished round of I/O at shortstop. Offensively, the switch-hitter opened his season by going 3-for-7 with an RBI against top-tier competition. Featuring one of the purest left-handed swings in the country, Maniscalco delivers a heavy barrel through the zone, producing high exit velocities when squared up. His power potential is significant, but it’s his advanced all-fields approach that continues to elevate his hit tool. Defensively, he showcases fluid, athletic actions on the left side with the arm strength (92 mph at previous events) to stick at shortstop long-term. His combination of skill, maturity, and advanced feel for the game makes it easy to see why he’s such a highly regarded prospect." |
