QUICK HITS

Christian Rush 3B / RHP / West Lauderdale, MS / 2028

Athletic frame with emerging skill set. The 5-11, 178 pounder used quick hands and a swing that is tightening up to produce line drives to the middle and pull side with exit velocities up to 92 mph during his batting practice round this past Tuesday. Rush also showed off an arm that is on the rise as well with throws up to 83 mph from the infield and 81 off the mound. More talent on the way for this year's 4A State Champs.

William Howell RHP / OF / Clinton, MS / 2029

The 6-0, 160 pounder shows very high upside on the mound with a lean maturing frame and loose arm action that works very well. The rising freshman was up to 83 mph on the day which is exciting given his age and the fact it didn’t seem forced but rather free and easy. His secondary arsenal is still developing but he has plenty of time. He showed decent shape to a curveball and some feel for his change up though both pitches look to be in the developmental stage. An exciting prospect on the way!

Evan Summers OF / 1B / Itawamba Agricultural, MS / 2026

The currently uncommitted Summers showed one of the more mature swings at the event and his pop was evident on his very first swing of the day. Hitting from the left side, the 5-11, 200 pounder worked the middle to pull side off the field with line drives, occasional loft, and exit velocities into the mid 90’s. With Itawamba graduating several key players look for Summers to help carry the load for the Indians in 2026.

Braxton Hartley C / OF / WARREN CENTRAL, MS / 2027

Hartley had a very solid day all around at our Jackson ID on Tuesday and will become a name seen on most recruiters short list for receivers very soon. The 6-1, 185 pounder had some polish at the plate with a synced up swing, slightly upward bat path with low 90s exit velocities to the middle to pull side. He made his biggest impression during the defensive evaluations with his advanced look behind the plate. Hartley used good footwork from a strong set up and quickness during his transfers which resulted in pop times as low as 1.93 on the day. We look forward to seeing him in game action soon.

Case Simmons OF / OF / BROOKHAVEN ACADEMY, MS / 2028

The rising sophomore is still developing fluidity and smoothness to his game but there is plenty to get excited about. Simmons first caught our attention with his quick bat and jump off the barrel to the pull side which produced an event high 98 mph exit velocity and a 90 mph average during his batting practice round on Tuesday. Simmons also ran well (7.20) for an underclassman and should get faster in time which will help cover more ground from his outfield position.

Hayes Leach OF / RHP / REGENTS SCHOOL OF OXFORD, MS / 2029

Leach is another underclassman that made quite an impression. The rising  freshman outfielder has a developing skill set but his 6.79 60 definitely makes him a young prospect to follow. His swing plays well now from the right side with ability to work the middle of the field with line drives. More pop will come with time and coupled with his speed could see him settle into a gap to gap doubles machine.
