The 2025 FHSAA Class 7A Baseball State Championships at Hammond Stadium delivered a thrilling three-game saga, with the Stoneman Douglas Eagles claiming the crown through a blend of dominant pitching, clutch hitting, and unshakable resolve. Facing Alonso and Jupiter, the Eagles showcased their depth and determination, culminating in a hard-fought 5th straight State Title win that etched their name in Florida high school baseball history.

Semifinal: Stoneman Douglas vs. Alonso

The journey began on Friday, May 16, as Stoneman Douglas took on the Alonso Ravens in a semifinal clash that highlighted their pitching prowess and opportunistic offense. Gio Rojas was a force on the mound, striking out an astounding 15 batters over seven scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and two walks. His dominance set the tone, stifling Alonso’s bats from the outset.

The Eagles struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on an error to take a 1-0 lead. The bottom of the lineup carried the day, with Erick Torres, Lorenzo Laurel, and Cade Raley combining for four of the team’s six hits, scoring two runs and driving in two. Torres, batting seventh, led the way, going 2-for-3, while Drew Freeman, Jake Rizzo, Laurel, and Raley each contributed an RBI to help secure the 5-0 shutout.

Alonso’s Julian Batista battled on the mound, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits over four innings with four strikeouts. Joshua Abrahante led the Ravens’ offense with a 1-for-2 day, but they couldn’t solve Rojas’ electric stuff. The Eagles advanced to the final, their confidence soaring after a commanding performance.

Semifinal: Jupiter vs. Hagerty

In the other semifinal, the Jupiter Warriors faced the Hagerty Huskies in a high-scoring affair that showcased their offensive depth. Jupiter jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, with Brady Blanks’ single, Jake Finnegan’s sacrifice fly, and Andrew Abad’s single each driving in a run. Colton Schwarz’s two-RBI single in the second extended the lead to 5-0, setting the tone for a 6-4 victory.

Ethan Trivison earned the win for Jupiter, allowing four runs on five hits over five innings with three strikeouts. Relievers Ryder Bennett and Braedon Hopkins shut down Hagerty’s offense late, preserving the lead. Jupiter’s 10 hits were led by Griffin Miller’s 3-for-5 performance from the leadoff spot, while Schwarz and Finnegan each drove in two runs.
Hagerty fought back, with Brandon Levy, Stephen Chucka, Ryan Foscolo, Marcos Salva, and Isaias Torres each collecting a hit, and Carlos Cruz, Chucka, and Torres driving in runs. Starter Max Murray took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits over 2.2 innings. Despite a late rally, the Huskies fell short, and Jupiter advanced to face Stoneman Douglas in the championship.

Final:
Stoneman Douglas vs. Jupiter

On Saturday, May 17, Stoneman Douglas and Jupiter met under the Fort Myers lights for the Class 7A title in a pitcher’s duel that came down to the wire. Jupiter struck first in the second inning, as Griffin Miller’s sacrifice fly plated a run for a 1-0 lead. Stoneman Douglas answered in the bottom of the frame, with Jake Rizzo’s single driving in two runs to take a 2-1 edge.

The Eagles added an insurance run, finishing with a 3-2 victory. Daniel Tartaglia started for Stoneman Douglas, allowing one unearned run on five hits over three innings, while Chase Wildroudt earned the win with 1.2 scoreless innings and two strikeouts. Breylynn Courtney secured the save, shutting the door on Jupiter’s comeback hopes. Rizzo led the offense, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Michael Ossenfort also had two hits.

Jupiter’s 10 hits were paced by Eddie Otero, Andrew Abad, Gabe Graulau, and Brady Blanks, each with two, while Miller and Ryan Senecal drove in runs. Starter Jack Wahl-Cox took the loss, allowing three runs on five hits over 4.1 innings. Despite their offensive output, the Warriors couldn’t overcome Stoneman Douglas’ clutch pitching and timely hitting as the Eagles claimed their record-setting fifth straight state title.
