Player Notes:

(No.14) Flagstaff vs. (No.10) Saguaro

*Alain Gomez, 2026 C, Saguaro, South Carolina commit

Switch-hitting catcher Alain Gomez, a highly touted South Carolina commit and a standout player within Arizona's talented 2026 class, is widely recognized as one of the premier catching prospects in the nation, drawing considerable attention as a potential MLB Draft selection in the years to come. Offensively, Gomez showcases exceptional bat speed and noteworthy power from both sides of the plate. His approach at the plate is marked by a consistent intent to drive the ball with authority, a testament to his advanced hitting mechanics and physical strength. This ability to generate impactful contact is further underscored by his impressive 101.7 mph maximum exit velocity recorded at prominent national scouting events, including the prestigious Future Games and Preseason All-State showcase. Such metrics place him among the elite hitters in his class.

Defensively, Gomez demonstrates the characteristics of a polished catcher. He exhibits soft and reliable hands that effectively receive pitches, coupled with quick and efficient footwork that facilitates swift transitions. His strong and accurate throwing arm is a significant asset behind the plate, consistently producing pop times ranging between an impressive 1.74 and 1.90 seconds on throws to second base. These quick release times and accurate throws effectively neutralize the running game of opposing teams. Beyond his notable physical tools and technical skills, Gomez distinguishes himself through his exceptional in-game maturity. He demonstrates vocal leadership qualities, taking command on the field and directing his teammates. His advanced understanding of the game is evident in his sophisticated pitch calling abilities, showcasing a deep comprehension of game situations and opposing hitters' tendencies. Furthermore, Gomez possesses a commanding presence behind the plate, exuding confidence and control that further solidifies his reputation as a top-tier catching prospect. His comprehensive skillset and advanced maturity make him a highly sought-after player with significant potential at the next level.

*Zander Bratspis, 2026 SS, Saguaro, Kansas State commit

Arizona's 2026 shortstop Zander Bratspis has already firmly established himself as one of the state's premier prospects. His commitment to Kansas State speaks volumes about his potential and current ability. Bratspis demonstrates a deep understanding of the game, indicative of a high baseball IQ that permeates all facets of his play. His foundation in baseball fundamentals is exceptionally sound, providing a stable platform for his advanced skills.

Defensively, Bratspis projects as a high-level middle infielder. His movements at shortstop are fluid and effortless, showcasing natural instincts for the position. His hands are exceptionally soft and reliable, allowing him to handle a variety of batted balls cleanly. Quick feet enable him to cover ground efficiently, contributing to his impressive range. He possesses an innate understanding of the nuances of the shortstop position, anticipating plays and positioning himself effectively.

Offensively, Bratspis presents a well-rounded approach. His swing is characterized by its compactness and efficiency, allowing for consistent contact. He demonstrates the ability to drive the ball to all areas of the field, suggesting a mature and adaptable hitting approach. His profile suggests he will develop into a reliable top of the order hitter, capable of consistently putting the ball in play and initiating offensive opportunities. He couples his contact skills with a disciplined approach at the plate, demonstrating patience and selectivity.

Beyond his on-field abilities, Bratspis is known for his strong work ethic, a crucial ingredient for continued development and success at the next level. This dedication to improvement further solidifies his standing as one of the most complete and dependable prospects in Arizona's 2026 class. His well-rounded skillset and commitment to the game make him a player to watch closely as he continues his development in the coming years. He has the potential to make a significant impact at the collegiate level and beyond.

Kyle Miller, 2026 1B/LHP, Saguaro, Uncommitted

Kyle’s a strong lefty hitter with a really clean, repeatable swing - his mechanics are solid. He keeps his swing compact, which gives him great bat control and balance, making him tough to get out. He's got a knack for hitting the ball hard, using a line drive approach and going to all fields. Defensively, he’s got good hands at first base and is working hard on his footwork. Plus, he throws left-handed, adding a cool extra dimension to his game. Still uncommitted for 2026, he's got a nice blend of current hitting ability and serious potential. Definitely someone college programs should keep an eye on, as he’s got a lot of room to grow on both offense and defense.

Jace Adams, 2027 RHP/3B, Flagstaff, Uncommitted

A right handed pitching prospect in the 2027 class, Jace displayed a competitive approach and a three pitch mix. His fastball ranged from 85-88 mph, reaching 89 mph with tailing movement. He effectively used a 72-77 mph curveball in various counts and featured a 77-82 mph changeup with occasional late fade. Despite needing further development in command and consistency, Adams demonstrated an ability to compete and deliver key pitches, aiding his team's control of the game. With increased strength and continued development, he possesses a strong base for future growth.
