North Carolina Class of 2027: Rankings Update
Throughout the spring season, Prep Baseball North Carolina scouts were hard at work, covering over 320 games across the state to evaluate high school talent. With the summer now underway, our focus shifts to updating class rankings—this week featuring the Class of 2027.
Summer Spotlight: Let the Madness Begin
The early part of summer is a pivotal time for the 2027 class. These players are working to be seen and to earn spots on recruiting boards across the country. As July approaches, attention turns toward the premier event for uncommitted underclassmen—the Prep Baseball Future Games. This showcase will bring together top 2027 talent from across North America, and Team North Carolina is expected to be a standout squad. With a full workout day followed by three competitive game days, these players will perform in front of over 400 college coaches in attendance.
As college programs finalize their watch lists, Prep Baseball Player Profiles will serve as a key resource for recruiters. Athletes who participate in Prep Baseball events benefit from updated stats, advanced analytics, and video—all visible to the more than 1,000 colleges and universities subscribed to the platform. These profiles allow recruiters to track performance trends and build detailed evaluations ahead of the upcoming August 1 contact period, when coaches can officially reach out to the 2027 class through phone calls, texts, and campus visits.
Rankings Expansion & Evaluation Process
The updated Class of 2027 Rankings now expand to the Top 225 players in North Carolina—a significant increase as more players emerge and develop. This list is expected to evolve further over the next few months, especially following summer showcase events and national tournaments.
Prep Baseball’s ranking process is methodical and objective. Each player is evaluated through in-person scouting, event data, and video analysis. Once a player grade is assigned, they are entered into a class-specific database. To reduce bias, all identifying information is hidden while rankings are sorted based solely on player and tool grades. Once ordered, names are reintroduced and final edits are made for accuracy and fairness.

Spring evaluations led to some reshuffling within the Top 10—expected given how closely graded many of these players are. Even small changes in projection or performance can create meaningful shifts within the rankings.
