Game 1 Player Notes:

Valley Christian Trojans vs. Gilbert Christian Knights

*Jaxen Maxey, 2026 OF, Valley Christian, Arizona State commit

A lean, athletic 6 '2 outfielder in Arizona's 2026 class, Jaxen stands out for his well rounded game. His smooth, connected right-handed swing features a calm and mature approach, utilizing his legs to deliver the barrel with quiet intent and showcasing good bat to ball skills and situational hitting. Defensively, Maxey exhibits fluid strides and strong reads in center field, complementing his accurate arm with carry (previously 89 mph) that projects to keep him in center long term. With his strong makeup, defensive skills, and polished offensive approach, Maxey is an advanced player with significant potential at a premium position.

Carson Grier, 2025 INF/RHP, Valley Christian, Uncommitted

A long-limbed and athletic infielder, Carson possesses a projectable frame with room for added strength. He demonstrated quick hands and bat speed, driving a firm ground ball through the left side by staying inside the pitch and showing some feel for the barrel.

Tyler Burr, 2025 C, Gilbert Christian, Wheaton College commit

Tyler is a strong left-handed hitting catcher with a repeatable swing when his timing is right. He employs a toe tap that sometimes causes him to get out in front, but when he stays back, he tracks pitches well and hits to all fields, demonstrated by his RBI single to the opposite field in the seventh. Behind the plate, Burr shows solid receiving skills and leadership qualities. With more repetitions and improved offensive rhythm, he has potential for growth both offensively and defensively.

Game Recap:

Valley Christian capitalized on early scoring opportunities and held off Gilbert Christian in a tight 5-4 win. Brock Jackson delivered a key 2 RBI double in the second, while Jaxen Maxey added an RBI single to extend the lead. Cameron Bergloff was sharp on the mound, striking out 10 over six innings. Zack Linker and Hayden Jensen each drove in a run for Gilbert Christian, but the comeback fell short.

Game 2 Player Notes:

Yuma Catholic Shamrocks vs. Pusch Ridge Christian Academy Lions

Mickey Fox, 2025 LHP/OF, Yuma Catholic, Saint Mary’s commit

At lean, athletic 6 ‘1, Mickey demonstrates value both offensively and defensively. At the plate for Yuma Catholic, he exhibited a calm presence, a clean, compact swing path, and looseness, delivering a clutch RBI hit to secure an early lead. His confident, controlled tempo is effective in high pressure situations. On the mound, Fox has previously displayed advanced feel with a three pitch mix, featuring a fastball up to 85 mph and two quality secondary pitches. His athleticism is evident across the field, and with remaining physical projection, he is a well rounded two way talent with room to grow and develop more.

Game Recap:

Jose Alatorre sparked Yuma Catholic’s offense with a 3 hit day, and Hiram Silva dominated on the mound with a 6 inning shutout, fanning eight. Mickey Fox chipped in with two hits and 3 RBIs to lead a 1 -hit attack. Pusch Ridge was held scoreless despite a multi-hit effort from Mason Ray. Yuma Catholic played clean defense and controlled the game start to finish.
