LakePoint Rising Stars ID: Quick Hits

Prep Baseball Georgia
Staff

Emerson, GA - The Prep Baseball Georgia Staff hosted the lakepoint Summer I.D at Lakepoint Sports on May 28th. This event was an opportunity to see players from the 2029-2030 classes. These players went through extended pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, ran the 60 yard dash using VALD Performance, and much more. Pitchers were able to throw short bullpens with Trackman. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Wednesday.

Today, we will begin the event post event content with our Quick Hits article, which is some quick 1st impressions from our scouting staff.

Quick Hits

Brogen Stephens, LHP/OF, 2029
Stephens is 5-foot-7, 145-pounds and has a lot of physical upside and room to grow into his body. His fastball topped at 76 mph which featured impressive arm-side run, giving it late life. He also mixed in a changeup at 65 mph with similar arm action and a developing 11-5 shaped curveball at 62 mph, both of which showed promising shape and feel. Being a 2029 graduate, Brogen has significant time to develop in the future. He has the tools to become a high-level arm in high school and possibly beyond. Definitely a player to keep an eye on.

Makial Wood, OF/2B, 2030
Makial is 5-foot-4, 110-pounds. Makial stood out with his bat-to-ball skills and quick hands at the plate, consistently finding barrel after barrel with his short and direct swing path. He had an advanced swing for his age with a lot of upside in the future. While still growing into his frame, Wood showed positive athleticism and coordination that will project very well when adding strength and size. With some great early tools, Wood is definitely someone to keep an eye on in the coming years after his physical development.

Walker Stiltner, SS, 2028, Pike County High School
Got a fun look at Stiltner here today. The 5-foot-6, 130-pound SS showed some true gap-to-gap power potential in the future. Stiltner peppered balls on a line to both sides of the field and did it frequently. He keeps everything simple in the box with a neutral stance and real quiet hands in his load. His hands get going quick and he keeps the barrel in the zone for a long time. He showed some advanced actions both in the box and in the field for his young age. Stiltner is going to be a fun one to keep an eye on in the next few years to see how he grows and develops.

Easton Irle, 3B/RHP, 2029, South Paulding High School
Athletic infielder with a 6-foot, 151-pound frame. This left handed hitter shows a smooth, impressive swing. He generates solid contact to all fields. At the plate Irle is balanced and has quick hands with pop behind that bat. Really strong power potential as he fills out and develops. Irle shows positive signs on the field as well. He has active feet, and attacks the baseball. He uses his natural athletic abilities to his advantage, and is a well-rounded ball player. Expect Easton to standout among other players in the class of 2029.

Tatum White, RHP/1B, 2029, Heard County High School
Uncommitted. White standing at 6’3 278 with a large frame. White is a switch hitting 1B who is able to hit for power from both sides of the plate. White showed that he is able to pull the ball from the right side and from the left side tends to hit the ball to the gaps for power where we saw multiple swings almost leave the park. We also got to see him pitch where he was able to throw the fastball, changeup, and curveball all effectively. White sat between 77-80 with his high reaching 82 he was able to work the corners of the plate and show just how effective he was able to mix in his changeup that had an average speed of 70 MPH and showed how he could use that as a great offspeed pitch. White is a well built kid with still plenty of room to continue to grow and excel his game in all levels of play. Being so young it is easy to see why he was at the rising stars event and will continue to see in the coming years.

Elijah Cheshire, 3B/RHP, 2029, Harrison High School
Standout player from the rising stars showcase, Cheshire showcased his bat and arm today well. He has a mex EV of 87 during BP. He found the sweet spot a lot and drove the ball in the air well, hitting a lot of line drives and fly balls. The mound was a spot where he shined. A fastball that had great cut ride action, and sat in the mid 70s was a pitch that will continue to get better and he develops. His CB is a big breaking pitch that he is able to land for strikes and generate swings and misses. The slider might be his feature offering, with big sweeper action and able to land it for strikes, it gives him the option to confuse hitters between his different breaking balls. The change up is another good offspeed option that he has, getting a lot of vertical depth and a good velocity difference from the fastball.

Tison Hendley, 3B/RHP, 2029, Worth County
6-foo-4 185-pounds. Hendley has a strong frame that is ready to build on. Showcased well during BP with a max EV of 86.6. The arm works on the mound and will continue to develop the delivery with the projectable frame.

Grayson Albert, C/RHP, Marist, 2029
6-foot-1 165-pounds. This was our 2nd look at Albert and he can do a little bit of everything. He could play any position on the field, but is a primary catcher with a strong bat at the dish. He led the event with a 91 max EV and sprayed hard line drives gap to gap. The frame is lean and athletic that moves really well behind the dish.

Kyptin Wilson, C/INF/P, East Coweta, 2029
Wilson is one of those young players that has really smooth actions across the board that will come into play as he grows and gets stronger. He can play multiple positions and had a smooth swing at the plate. The barrel was consistently in the zone and created good separation with his hands.
