This week, Prep Baseball staff was in attendance for a high-level 3A playoff game, as 21-1 Gig Harbor faced 14-6 Kelso. Both teams threw their top arms, with Gig Harbor scoring late to secure a tightly contested 1-0 victory. The Tides secured a spot in the 3A state playoffs with the win, while Kelso will now have to win multiple games to earn a trip to state. Below are scouting notes on some of the top prospects from yesterday's matchup.
Gig Harbor vs. Kelso (5.13.25)
Gig Harbor
'26 RHP Quentin Bockhorn (Uncommitted)
The junior arm continued to build on his remarkable spring with a stellar outing on Tuesday, delivering 4.2 innings of shutout baseball on the mound. Bockhorn allowed just 2 hits and struck out 10, generating swing and miss throughout. FB ticked up from a previous look at the righty earlier this spring, sitting 87-88 MPH early and settling in to more 85-86 MPH the rest of the way. CB at 73-75 flashed above average as his lone offspeed delivery. Low-slot release with some deception created a unique look for hitters, who struggled to square him up. Worked through some command issues with 4 walks, but managed to work around traffic and make big pitches when needed. Uncommitted arm is a must-follow into this summer as he continues to trend upward.

'26 RHP Jake Cuda (Uncommitted)
Cuda came in relief and delivered a clutch performance on the mound, including a massive bases loaded, two out strikeout in the 5th inning for the Tides. Cuda was predominantly FB/CB in this one, with the FB sitting 80-82 MPH and the CB in the upper 60's. Finished with 2.1 hitless innings in relief, walking 2 and striking out 5. Cuda also started as the DH offensively and went 2-3 from the bottom of the order, one of just two players with a multi-hit game on the afternoon. Junior was a major reason Gig Harbor secured a 1-0 victory and secured a spot in the state tournament.

'25 OF Cole Krilich (Uncommitted)
The outfielder that had a productive game in a look earlier this spring had another great performance, going 2-3 and scoring the lone run of the game at the plate. Medium-framed athlete showcased some gap power, including the only extra base hit of the game with a triple deep into the RCF gap. Average speed, covers plenty of ground in a corner OF spot. Big time playoff performance.
'25 INF Wesley Bonnici (Willamette Commit)
Bonnici is one of several members of a strong senior class that has propelled the Tides to a 22-1 record to this point. The 6'3, strong framed prospect showcased fluid defensive actions with developing arm strength. Sinks deeper into the lower half and used the whole field at the plate, finishing 1-2 with a single and a walk on the afternoon. Plus runner with some positional versatility.

'26 INF Hunter Payne (Uncommitted)
Tall, long-levered junior delivered the game-deciding RBI, dropping one in the perfect spot between the shortstop and centerfielder and driving in a run. Quiet, balanced setup from the RH side with an uphill path. Reached base twice with the single and a HBP. Long, lean frame moved well at third base, making some great throws from the corner spot. 7.25 runner when seen at a Prep Baseball event last fall. Key part of a deep Gig Harbor lineup.
Kelso
'26 RHP Bryce Collins (Ole Miss Commit)
The second ranked junior in the Washington 2026 class, Collins more than looked the part of a premier arm talent in this one. Came out of the gate hot, sitting 93-94 MPH with the FB early, settling in and sitting more 90-91 MPH in later innings. Filled up the zone for the most part, occasionally missing up and arm side with the FB. SL at 78-81 was main secondary offering, but did flash a SPL at 85-86 as clear third option. Longer arm action with fluid, athletic delivery shown. The Future Games alum struck out 10 in 5.2 innings of work, pitching around some traffic and giving up just 1 earned run. Collins showed some really encouraging progression in stuff and should continue to be one of the most dominant arms in the PNW.

'27 INF Carter Huntley (Uncommitted)
In a game in which Kelso recorded just 2 hits, Huntley was one of the bright spots, reaching base twice with an infield single and a walk. Short, abbreviated swing from the right side with a quick first step out of the box. Plenty of room to add strength and physicality in medium frame. Showed potential to stick at SS position with soft hands and smooth overall actions. Sophomore to keep an eye on.
'27 C Miles Franett (Uncommitted)
Stocky, compact framed backstop did a nice job handling a high-velocity arm behind the plate, and limited the run game when needed for the most part. Developing arm strength but great fundamentals behind the plate for underclassman status. Reached base with a walk, and showcased a longer, whippy RH swing with some gap power.
